'bucket list'

Original post by Gracie821

I have done a lot of soul searching and me and dh have had to work a lot of stuf out this past month and we had the whole when should we ttc talk. So we decided to come up with a list of a few things that we want to do before we start ttc, a sort of bucket before the baby list. We decided that we def want tro take a trip to somewhere we have never been even if its just for a long weekend as long as it is to a place that we have never been to before. We need to buy a new car so that I know we will have a safe reliable one. We both want to get another tattoo (an expense that we might not want to pay for once we have a baby), and I want to get our house in basic order since we moved in in october and still have not finished unpacking
These may seem like silly and basic things, but it is what we have talked about, and then decided that these are all things that we could accomplish by the fall and maybe start ttc then.

What is on your prebaby bucket list?

This is such a good idea!

-Take one long trip somewhere (should be accomplished by going to London next month)
-Either get my PhD, or at least change careers and settle enough that I'm stable at my job
-Pay off my credit card debt
-Buy the rest of the furniture we need

Not sure what DH would add to this list, though.

I would not recommend having a baby while working on a PhD- I barely have time for myself.

Yeah, that's why I want to wait until I'm done. I was talking with one of the PhDs at my job and she said she did it when she was writing her dissertation because she could have time to focus on the paper and it gave her an excuse to not work and stay home with the baby for her first year. So I may do that...but we'll see when the time comes.

Re: 'bucket list'

DH and I have had this conversation and this is the plan:

1) Take 3 trips: 2010 - Spain; 2011 - Italy; 2012 - Greece & Turkey
2) I want to be basically finished with my MBA which I will start next fall and its going to take 3 yrs to complete
3) Be homeowners

So with this I think we will start in 2012...so a couple of years away.

My plan is to try and get pregnant while writing too but we will see if it actually works out.

Re: 'bucket list'

We just want to purchase a home. We are currently looking.

I think either way though we will TTC in September.

Hopefully we conceive right away though..we are trying to time it right to have the baby in late May or June of 2011. DH is a teacher. I also want to be done with my student teaching, which if I have a baby in late May of next year, I will be.
