So me and DH are on a strict budget where we both get the same amount of spending money each month. This week my check has an extra $300.
Would you split it with DH or keep it for yourself?? (Im thinking I will split it but would like to see what other wives would do)

Re: Budgeting with DH
lol DH makes more money than I do. So I would keep that for myself thank you very much.
Being that I also work at a job where you can't dress down and you have to sort of look presentable, I am in DIRE need of new clothes. I would deff take that money and buy myself some new clothes or pay off some of my bills haha
DH wouldn't split it with me, I am betting, so yeah. :-P
He also just purchased a season ticket package or something for some METS games that was like $500. He didn't evne think twice to ask me about it, so my answer is no lol

We share everything. Its 'our' money now. I would share with DH and he would do the same.

We share everything so it's both our money and we wouldn't split it but we would use it together if we had to.

I think we would either put it in savings, but if not then we would split it, bc when he gets extra money he splits it with me

it would most like go into savings, but if we wanted to spend it, then we would split it. there's no more my money or his money, it's our $$ now.

I haven't gone shopping in months b/c of the wedding. And now that we are trying to save for a house, it's even harder. It's hard for him to share money, and it's hard for me b/c I have always been so independent. His parents do the same thing, and I never had to deal with that in a relationship. When it comes to bills we split them, but if he got a bonus at work, I can almost guarantee you he would not split it with me lol He got $800 for christmas and said 'there goes my part of he rent for the first month' He didn't say 'here you get half' I think I would laugh so hard I would pee my pants if he said that to me lol

Re: Budgeting with DH
I wish. I am sure he would rather save it at this point in our lives, rather than share it with me. But he did mention to me that if he had any extra money, he would give me some to pay off our bills. And I told him if I had extra I would give to him, so he is changing. I just still think he is selfish in some ways. His parents brought him up that way. I always wanted my marriage to be, OURS, but it just isn't like that, and I can't really tell him what to do with his money as long as he is paying his part of the bills.

Re: Budgeting with DH
I'd consider it found money and throw it into savings.

Re: Budgeting with DH
We share all accounts so it would just be considered our money and would use it towards whatever we needed at the time. Or if we didnt need it, maybe put into savings.

Re: Budgeting with DH
DH and I finally combined our finances. DH is terrible with money, which is why it is now my 'job' to take care of our finances. I like to save, he likes to spend.
If I had extra money like that, I'd probably hide it away to use for us in the future, like when we go on vacation or want to treat ourselves to a night out.

This is exactly how we are. All of our accounts are joint and both our checks go directly into them. He just blows through money while I pinch pennys. Its my job to pay the bills and take care of it all. So if he had extra that I didnt immediatly put in savings or pay a bill with I think he'd spend it before we both had the chance to enjoy it.

Re: Budgeting with DH
tell DH about the $$ and ask if he wants to split it as a little bonus for ourselves---or put it in savings.
but if you are on a strict budget--i'd probably just say we should put it into savings. but any money we get is 'our' money and we always share.
