Burned Myself Pretty Bad

I burned my arm while cooking the other night and now I have a bad burn that has a bubble over it. I am not going to pop it I will wait to let it heal, but is there anything else I can put on it or do to make it visible smaller and ensure no scaring?

Ouch! There's a prescription burn cream that my sister used once, but I can't think of the name of it. Maybe call your doctor or ask at the pharmacy.

Otherwise, my old standbys are pure aloe and/or neosporin.

Feel better!

Silverdene!!!! That's it, Gina. That's the one my sister used, too. I was going crazy trying to remember the name of it.

Thanks so much. I will call my derm and ask him to call it in for me.

It's not itchy yet, but I will try not to touch it at all.

I was at work once and this guy splattered HOT OIL allllllllllllll over my arm!!! It started to look like I spilled spagetti sauce allllll over I used Mederma religiouslyyyy to try to get rid of the scars... it worked very well. I had like 5 big spots all on my arm. Now I only have one faint spot- which will always be a reminder of what happened...but worked very well.

I would def. go to the doctor though and see what other stuff you can put on there besides mederma. good luck!

Get Vitamin E gel capsules. Take a pin and pop the capsule and squeeze out the gel. Rub the gel on it every night.

When I was in Grad School I spilled hot tea all down my leg and got bad 2nd (and some 3rd) degree burns on it. I had to go to the hospital and I had to wear bandages for months. I was on Vicatin for a while I was in so much pain. At the suggestion of my mom and a doctor I put the Vitamin E gel on it every morning and night... NO SCARS!!! I have no scars or discoloration on my legs whatsoever. You can't even tell I did it.

Also worked on an old burn I had from an iron.

Also in the future if you burn yourself make a bowl of ice and cold water. Stick a rag in it and then place the rag gently on the burn. It will pull some of the heat down making it blister less. When the rag heats up, and it will, stick it back in the bowl and repeat. Thats another trick I got from my hospital trip. I even use that on bad sunburns now.
