Anyone else have problems getting their bustles done? Both my bridesmaids where at the bridal store when the seamstress showed them how to do it. The day of my wedding NO ONE could do it properly so I carried it most of the day.

Re: Bustle Problems
That was me! When it came time to bustle my dress, the button part was easy but because of the sash part of my gown, it had to be bustled then pinned in 2 places. My mom and MOH totally forgot how to do it so lets just say my train was destroyed by the end of the night.

Re: Bustle Problems
Thank goodness I didn't even leave that responsibility to my girls. My mom was with me for all of the fittigs and she did a great job bustling my dress.

Re: Bustle Problems
I don't even recall being actually bustled. I went outside for a smoke and I remember them lifting up my dress, and before I was even down with my cigarette my bridesmaid told me that my dress was bustled. hehehe

Re: Bustle Problems
mine was an EASSSSY bustle. I even had one of the BM's come to my final fitting and watch.
But, for some reason, only my cousin, matron of honor knew had to do it. I had to ASK the BM who was AT the fitting to come over and make sure it was okay.
So, I guess the only people who know how do to a bustle are the married ladies!
My bustle was never done right by the seamstress I went to BUT I could NOT depend on my bridesmaids or mom , since they hadn't come to any of my fitting
SO actually my bridal attendant did my bustle , she was awesome

Re: Bustle Problems
I had problems because I had the type of bustle that goes under and attaches with buttons. My MOH couldnt find one button. Luckily one of my mom's best friends worked ina bridal store forever so she saved the day!

Re: Bustle Problems
I had some dress problems so Kleinfeld's provided me with a 'dresser' at no charge She was my seamstress and made my day. She stayed at the wedding until it was time to bustle. I have been in a LOT of weddings so I am familiar with a bunch of different bustles. All the dresses I looked at, I asked how they bustled. I have been to too many weddings where the bustle fell. I knew we would be PARTYING so didn't want it to even be an issie at all. There were buttons under one of the layers. The loops were on another layer.
Here are some pics from a fitting (I don't have any proofs of my bustle)
I definately had problems! It would hook on just fine, but after a bit of dancing or walking around, it would just randomly come undone. I had to have it re-bustled several times throughout the day.

Re: Bustle Problems
Mine was a very simple bustle - my seamstress (my cousin's MIL) said the train was too short so I could just hold it - I said no way and she figured out a way were she just added velcro and that was it. But, I had my aunt meet me at my last fitting so she would know how to do it since neither of my BM's could be there. I think the worst part was just finding and lining up all the velcro pieces.

Re: Bustle Problems
I had problems because my MOH acted like an airhead when it was time to learn how to do the bustle. I can't explain it - the girl is a DOCTOR and she couldn't figure out how to match the colored strings?? The bustle was not done right on my wedding day but it was supposed to look like this :
