Cable or Fios?

Cable or Fios?

Moving into our new house and still trying to decide which is better… we’ve always had cable, so I don’t know what we’d be missing if we switched to Fios.

Also they seem like they’re around the same price, but I think someone said Fios charges ridiculous taxes or something?

Good/bad of both? Esp if you’ve had both of them at a point?

well as you have seen my posts about cablevision, they are kinda a pia, buttt in the end they give you whatever you want so you dont switch.

if i remember pricing them out when we first moved into our apt, cablevision is a little cheaper. but i dont think its a huge difference.

they only channel that fios has that cablevision doesnt that i would enjoy, is the DIY network!!

the best thing about cablevision is if you have the triple play you get the free movie tuesdays!!! DH and i use it all the time!!!! hopeing to go see alison in wonderland today for free!!

We have the Fios Triple Play and we love it. We get great channels and we have two boxes, one with DVR and one without it. I love that we can DVR in one room and watch it in the other. Does Cablevision have that? I am not sure.

One thing I like better about Cablevision though is that you don't need a box for every TV. You can have a TV without a box, you get limited channels but it works. On Verizon you can't.

I totally agree! I love FIOS! I think the best thing is that if you subscribe to the movie channels, you automatically get them all free on demand. With Cablevision, I was paying an extra $9.95 a month to have HBO on demand.

My parents had Cablevision, switched to FiOS and hated it, then switched back to Cablevision. Maybe Verizon fixed a lot of the problems since when my parents had it, it was still fairly new.

On the other hand, DH works for a company here in VA that deals with Verizon and according to him, these people can't wait to have FiOS. So, I guess it depends on the area and everyone's preference.

The one major difference though is that you will lose Channel 12 News if you get FiOS.

FIOS. We have had both and we switched to FIOS last year about this time and would never go back to CV. When everyone else has no cable FIOS still works.

The picture is so much better and they really do have more channels.

Kristen, my DH said he saw you and your DH in home depot in farmingdale over the weekend......is your house out here???

We are in Farmingdale so we are in that HD at least 3x a day. We even had one day when we were fixing a water leak that we were in there 7 times in one day. It has gotten to the point where the staff knows us and askes us how the house is coming.

Fios hands down. We have never had an issue with them in the year we've had them. Meanwhile, the laundry list of cr@p we've had to deal with with Cablevision (and watched others deal with) is ridiculous. I will never switch back ever.
