I live in Queensssssssss :) I would love to do some classes on sugar work/flowers. Are the classes at Michael's expensive?

I live in queens and took the classes in manhasset. They weren't expensive and a lot of the time they were running a promo if you bring a friend the class is free or if you buy the kit the class is free. I think the classes were typically $40 but it was a few years ago so I'm not sure.

I tried finding info on the Michaels webpage, but I must be impatient or stupid, b/c I cannot find it.

You have to call the Michael's store where you want to take them.

I couldn't get it to work either, I had to go to the store and pick up one of their calendars to find out when the class started.

Re: Cake Decorating Classes

Jess and I are taking the class at the Patchogue Michaels. It's $22.50 for course I (that is 4 clases). The student kit is $25 and then you have to buy your baking supplies (cake, and all the stuff to make the icing). I'm pretty sure every Michaels has it, but i believe the run in order, so the patchogue one just started in the beginning of April and i believe it goes for 12 weeks (course I, course II, course III) then it starts over at course I again.

Ty. I'm thinking about the one in Bayshore, or maybe more into Nassau, b/c patchogue would be super far for Dana. I guess I'll have to suck it up and call the stores.

Re: Cake Decorating Classes

Here is information that I wrote on another thread and also what I sent to some ladies who have Fm'd me.

The classes are fun, and are about 2 hours each 4 classes per course (8 hours total).
I take my classes at The Micheals in Riverhead. They have the classes at most Micheals, the times of the classes vary so it is best to check with the store that you are going to be looking into going to.

In Course 1, for classes 2,3 and 4 of you bring a home made cake with you.. Most of the decorating (besides basic icing) you will do at the class.

I kept all my receipts from Course 1 and including the Class fee, Course 1 Kit, and various items for the class (cake mix, icing supplies, and other things to help with the cake) It cost me $100.- for the 4 weeks total. I also used the 40% or 50% off coupons on almost everything.

I bought a lot of extra's, like a new cake carrier, all the icing colors, and extra couplers, icing bags, etc.. they have all been well used though.

Let me know if there is any thing else I can anwer for you, feel free to FM.
I am currently Finished Course 2 class 2 last weekend (4/19).
