Ok, for any teachers, I have a question. I am thinking of a career move towards a life long goal.....teaching. However I am 25 and would be starting from scratch so I have set my goals a little more realistic. So I am thinking of going back to school part time and getting my associates. So I was wondering if any one knew the salary of a teachers aide, bennefits and the demand. Anything would help.

Re: Calling all Teachers
Try posting on BHB or even LIF, I know there are a ton of teachers on there

there is a huge demand for aides right now.. but the salary is low.. If you don't mind making a pay cut it could really aid you when you need to find a job in teaching. If I were you I would go right into a 4 year program for teaching to get your BA. I know SUNY Stony Brook has one and CW Post and not even bother with an associates.. You would also have to get your masters eventually to maintain your teaching license.

Aides make next to nothing! Which is ridiculous considering how hard they work

why dont you look into teachers fellowship program? I dont know too much about it but I tHINK you work while getting your degree and they place you in a school (which will probably be an at risk school) check out teachnyc.com for more info! This is for city schools...
