I am not knocking it at all so please don't take it the wrong way but isn't a 1,000 really a low amount of calories to take in a day especially if you are working out or are active?

Thats why i asked too. Cause now im saying to myself , no wonder i never lose weight! But i dont know if i could ever do 1000 and not pass out.

I know I'm a fat @ss and my opinion probably won't seem relevant but....

I nearly died a few years ago. I lost 120 lbs very quickly because I was eating 800-1100 calories per day and working out excessively. When all of my organs began swelling and shutting down and my hair falling out, DH made me go to the doctor, quit exercise and begin eating normally. I was told repeatedly that 1000 calories is not enough for your body to function. Limited calories like that will cause your body to go into starvation mode and your metabolism will be severely impacted.

Please be careful.

I dont count calories, I just eat certain snacks that I know are healthy...so I think I am probably in the 1200++ range. But I love cookies and sweets and do splurge alot so I could be more than 1200.

Also I think it depends on your current body weight. If you are 115 pounds and eating 1000 calories a day....that may be ok. If you are 140 lbs you may require more (even if you are on a diet).

I just think that at that amount of calories your body isn't obtaining the right about of nutrients it needs and could be harmful. I would also think if you are exercising and working out and taking in only a 1,000 per day you are def. not getting the proper nutrition but that is just me, I have usually read that a 1,000 calorie diet is an extreme diet and shouldn't be followed for a long period of time. I personally would faint if I only took in a 1,000 and that was before the baby on board!

Also like Jenn04 said it probably depends on your current body weight and height that may factor in how many calories you should be consuming.

With a baby on board....I have been eating so much...its about double! I added alot of nutrients with omegas to my diet that I didnt have before I got prego. I eat what I want, when I want as long as its healthy.

As for before I got prego...I averaged 1000 cal a day....meaning some days I would eat 1200 some 1300....Its good to fluctuate. If I worked out....I would eat more. I never really counted calories, I eat when Im hungry and drink when Im thirsty. I drink mainly water. Since I dont like soda or diet drinks with splenda and juices contain high amounts of sugur. I cant have fast foods or eat greasy food if I wanted because I get so sick. I also have acid reflux and I have to stay away from certain foods. So there is alot I cant have...and I stick to plain foods. Inless Im really craving it...I will eat it even though it will make me sick later on.

Here is an example of my diet before getting prego

Day one.....
Morning

Bowl of fiber one with skim milk
Banana
Apple

Lunch
Grilled Chicken sandwich, lettuce, tomato and mustard with a side salad with balsamic
I would have a snack 2 hours later like
popped pop corn
carrot sticks
yogurt
cottage cheese....

Dinner
Bowl of whole wheat pasta with meat sauce. Plain homeade sauce ( less acidic and healthier) with turkey meat instead of red meat.

Desert fat free frozen yogurt....
