can i share this? i am really proud of my dh....

In a little over 2 weeks, he will graduate, earning his b.a. degree. He began back in '92 and went fulltime but also played a sport. He would up playing the sport and not being so into school until one day, he got hurt. Once he couldn't play anymore, he dropped out of college. He went out and wa slucky to get a decent full time job with benefits.

When we first started dating, he decided to go back, it wasn't easy. Over the past 5 yrs, he has been going part time and slowly but surely he has earned his credits (He is only allowed to take a total of 18 credits a yr b/c of work). When he first went back he had 59 credits and soon he will graduate -its amazing! He has truly earned it as well as the respect of so many of his classmates.

He has taught me so much b/c it is not at all easy to go to school (esp. as an undergrad where classes meet so often every week and you often have class with students who don't understand why the 'old guy' is even there) and b/c school is just not his thing, but he has done it! I often take it for granted - I have my b.s, a masters and am working on another masters but he has taught me more about learning tha nany professor I have ever had. I can't even tell you how happy I will be to see him cross the stage. Originally, he had planned to ask me to marry him when he graduated, but then he just 'couldn't wait' so he 'plunged' ahead of time! But somehow, it will be just as special a day!

I can only wish his mom could be here to see it. We both do. His dad will be so proud too, as are my parents. I am very lucky in that he has shared this part of his life with me and has let me help him. To anyone who knowns him, he is such a caring guy and he makes me a better person.

I know this probably sounds silly, and it is ahead of time but I am on so little now that I wanted to share...... so thanks for letting me ramble and listening.....

Congrats to your husband. Going back to school at an older age is soo very hard, I went back after dropping out to work full time and I know how it feels to be the 'old' one among the under 21 ers.

Good luck & best wishes to him on his accomplishment, I am soo proud of him and I don't know him! As I was reading your post my eyes started to tear up.

Thank you for sharing - I think its wonderful that you Dh went back to school - it is a very difficult thing to do once your older. Congratulations on his accomplishments!
