Can my DH bring all my info to SS and change everything for me?

I really can't take off and would like to get this done. Can he go down to SS for me?

In a word, no. You have to be the one there to do it.

If you really don't want to take the time off and you are NOT in a rush .. then you can go to their website, print out a form and fill it in .. you have to send along your ORIGINAL wmarriage certificate and a proof of idenity in your maiden name. They will do this for you via mail.

After wasting a lunch hour in a line that didn't move, I mailed my stuff into my local SS office, did it this way and it took only two weeks to receive my new card with my married name. They were rather quick sending me back my original docs, etc.

The website also list office hours. Some of the SS offices open at 7:30 am.

YES he can!!!! Mine DID! I sent him with the signed application, original SS card, DMV ID, Marriage Certificate. He brought everything down got a receipt and all originals back except SS card (they keep that)

According to the SS site, you can even mail it in (that takes longer of course).

Thanks JodiJohn, I was pretty sure I had read someone said there DH brought all this in for them.

I'll have my DH do this soon.
