Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
When we originally got them, they were damaged and we had to wait to get the new ones. Then my grandmother passed, my nephew was born (he was in NICU for a week) and then the holidays rolled in!I feel strange sending them out this late!
Anyone else in the same boat?

Me....... we bought a house and sold our apartment and have been very busy. I read we have up to a year........ so hopefully people aren't too upset knowing how busy we have been. We are sending them out soon.

I've been getting slack from my DHs family...they told us, 'people are talking!' C'mon! Really! Are we horrible?

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
DH's parents were giving us flack since less than a month after the wedding. I finally lost it when we got the phone call 'Grandma's upset that you haven't written her a thank you note and she won't send any more presents.'COME ON! Am I 4 years old that you're going to try and bribe me with presents from Grandma???????
That was about 2 1/2 months after the wedding, and I was in the process of writing them. I'd say about 90% of mine are done now, but after the BS with the ILs, I haven't had any motivation to finish (sorry to those who are waiting).
For the record, I went to weddings in April and June for which I got Thank You Notes last month.

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
Girls - I read in an etiquette book that we have up to one year to send out our thank yous, so don't feel guilty about not sending them out right away. In fact, I just received a thank you from a wedding I went to in June, and I have two friends who got married in July - neither one of them have sent out their thank yous yet. Hopefully this will make you feel a bit less guiltly.

My dh JUST finished sending out the last of his. I kept nagging him to do them and he just did not see the big deal in doing it in a timely manner.

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
Don't worry about how long it takes, just as long as you eventually get them out. DH and I just got a thank you card from friends of ours that got married September 6, 2002. That is not a typo, they got married in 2002 and we just got the thank you last week in our Christmas card from them. I guess better late than never. I know they problems with their photographer, bought a new house and are just plain lazy, but It was nice to finally get it and have some acknowledgement that we shared their day with them and they appreciated our gift!!ETA- People are going to talk no matter when you send them, so don't worry. I sent mine out about a month and a half two months after the wedding and I had people complaining it took too long, and people saying wow, I never got one so soon after the wedding!! Go figure!!

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
Seriously, I think that people that complain about not getting a thank you card soon enough have TOO MUCH free time on their hands! I can't even imagine having enough time to 'wonder' where my thank you card for some gift is or care that one is a few months 'late'. As long as one comes, i think that is all that matters

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
I'm with ya!! I have not even ordered mine yet. Don't worry about when....time passes too quickly and times are too busy. You do them when you can and people will appreciate how you personalize them more than how many months it took to get them!!

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
my FIL already gave me lip over ours and it hasn't even been three months. I just got the damn things in the mail last Monday. And for his information, I finished my side of the family, I just need to address them and send them out. DH will probably procrastinate doing his for as long as possible. I know his father is going to expect me to do them all and that's simply not happening. I did all the TY from our e-party and from our shower. DH has to do at least his family and friends for the wedding. I flat out refuse!

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
I was harrassed by both mother and MIL. I just sent most of them out about 2 weeks ago and I got married in July. I still have a few more to go. I know I'll finish them eventually I honestly don't think anyone is pacing the floors waiting for my thank you to come.

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
The etiquette books that I've read say that guests have up to a year to give a gift. BUT, the thank yous should go out within 3 months of receiving the gift.

Re: Can you believe I am just sitting down to do my TYs?
I just ordered the TY pics from Duet when I was in NY last week. There's so much going on. DH is in law school, we found out we're expecting and now we are trying to buy a house. Hopefully I will have them out by the end of Jan (our 6 month mark). Not to mention, I think I lost the disk with all my addresses. UGH!! I haven't really looked, but I hope it's around.

i'm not one for sticking to etiquette, but i think that 3 months is a good mark (even though i didn't make it
