Can`t Take It Anymore

Can`t Take It Anymore

Why can`t businesses just get things right the first time? We bought a TV a few months back, and it broke just 2 hours after being in the house .. it just turned itself off and stayed that way. There have been other stressful, consistent, persistent problems since the wedding that have wasted so much time and energy from both my husband and me with dozens of phone calls over the past few months, to the mortgage company, to LIPA and to others, but now .. now we`re being faced with having to waste more vacation days because we have some problems with some furniture we had delivered .. which my husband and I each needed to use a vacation day to be home for when it came .. but that was okay .. because after being in the house for over 2 years we were finally getting our furniture .. and I didn`t mind taking the ONE day.

The 'appointment' for this furniture tech to come over and take a look at the problems is like a delivery 'appointment' with a 4-hour window of when these people could show up, not an actual time of when they will be there. And it won`t be a solution. If they decide the problem can`t be repaired, or if they need to order parts, they will need to come back again, which means at least a third vacation day down the drain. And I know they can`t fix the dining room table, because you can`t just patch the chips that are in the wood (or at least I won`t stand for that), so that means another delivery date. Part of me just wants to throw my hands up and say screw it, but the major part of me is really annoyed that we just dumped a ton of money on this furniture, and am left wondering how could there possibly be things wrong with several of the pieces??!! Or even just one piece for that matter! It`s not like we bought these pieces at the Mega-Low-Mart.

Doesn`t anyone put pride in their work or business anymore? I know there are other more pressing issues in this crazy world, but it really stinks when you`re afraid to make any major purchases because you`ve had such lousy luck with horrendous customer service from businesses that are supposed to be reputable with quality products. No one even cares if something their business has done is an inconvenience. Sure, customer service reps are just doing their job, don`t really have any kind of power, and must get tired listening to all those people complaining all day .. BUT maybe if businesses actually put the customer first, instead of making a motto noone follows ('Customer is always right'), there wouldn`t be so many complaints.

Kel, I am so sorry that you are so stressed! : ( It seems like you've hit a rough patch, and while I can't fix it for you, I can be a listening ear. It is aggravating to have jobs done so half a$$ed, so vent away whenever you need to.

Can`t Take It Anymore - Furniture ?

Just curious...did you buy your furniture from Thomasville?

Your story sounds a lot like my dads. His $17K dining room furniture came damaged. He's had many 'techs' come out to visit. Its been doing on since early December. Now the store manager is coming to his house. Its been a very painful process.

I hope things get better for you! :) Hang in there!

Can`t Take It Anymore - UGGGH!

I know exactly what you mean. I once had a sofa set delivered I happend to be looing out my window when the truck was unloading the sofabed. I saw it fall landing on the arm right into a puddle. When I told the delivery men that I would not accept delivery because the arm was broken they looked at me like I had 3 heads.

Hang in there - you know what they say about the calm after the storm.

Kel, unfortunatley this is the way most furniture companies work. I know its a real pain in the a**. I'm also wondering where you bought it from. My husband and I both work for furniture companies. Hang in there :)

I hope everything works out for you and I totally sympathize with you. I'm having a similar problem, not with furniture, but with AT&T and the chooches in their customer service dept. Cheer up, everything will work out fine! Good luck! :)

Sorry, Kel!! That just stinks!! ...

Say, who did you buy it from. As you know I'll also be shopping for furniture *very* soon and I want to know who NOT to give my business to!!

Hope you're well otherwise!!

:)

Kathi -- I'm cracking up!!!! A 'chooch'

is short for an Italian word that means cucumber, but in slang it means idiot (moron or something like that)!!!!!

Oops, I wrote the wrong meaning!!

It's not cucumber, it's donkey -- so it's an ass, really! Sorry, I was thinking of the other word I use!! LOL :0
