CAREER CHANGE!

CAREER CHANGE!

So I was thinking of changing my career! I want to do something to help others! I've always wanted to be a nurse but I'm scared to death of needles! I wouldn't be able to stck anyone with a needle!

Someone told me not all nurses have to draw blood, but I don't see how that is true!

Right now I work as an Administrator and sit behind a desk all day for 8 hours. I'm 32 years old and I feel it may be too late for me to make a change. I know DH will be behind me no matter what I choose.

It's something I have been thinking about for a while now. I am so undecided!!!!

i say this all the time too!!

Growing up all i ever wanted to do was be a teacher! why i went to school for buisness i have no idea!! i work as a paralegal now so its not even like im even doing that!

everyone tells me go back to school get your masters in teaching, and yeah that sounds awesome but the thought of another boat load to student loans on top of the ones i already have just doesnt seem worth it to me!!

dont take my advice tho, if you really are unahppy with your career go for it!!

You are young and change can happen at any age. You need to do something that makes you happy! Have you ever thought about getting into a career in education? I have been doing it for 9 years and I love it!

i think a career change is very exciting, especially if that's what you truly desire in your heart! I say GO FOR IT!! you are so young and don't EVER think it's 'too late' to change your life into something you'd be happier living/doing!

Proceed with caution in this economy. I tried to career change and it put me in a bigger hole. If you have a good job I personally feel you should stick with it for now, unless you can afford to live without your salary.

That's great advice Michelle.
I think that while you're sticking to the 'Safety net' of your current job, you should be researching and doing the ground work for embarking on the career change.
Good luck! It's exciting.

I agree with Michelle's and Mirabella's advice as well. I am currently working in the health care field, and not all nurses draw blood. There are many specialties that you could look at!

During your studies you may have to learn how to though...

I say do some research and see what interest you and try and formulate a plan of attack.

Good Luck!

Can you start out taking a few night courses and see where that takes you?? My brother gf is 27 and just decided to go back to school because she wants to be a doctor!!! She is working full time and taking some night classes at Farmingdale!!

It's true that not all nurses have to draw blood... but we do all use needles... in school we have to do both IM (like a vaccine or medication) and insulin & heparin shots...

i don't know any nurse who hasn't had to do that !
