Carnival Cruises

Has anyone been on a carnival cruise? If so, which one? DH and I were looking at either the Imagination, Destiny, Inspiration or Freedom. Any recommendations? Did the food ****? We've only been on royal caribbean and loved it, but looking to try something new. Thanks!

i've been on 2 carnival cruises - fascination and i can't remember the other one!

both were a lot of fun and the food was good. the first cruise i went on was in august and it was more a party boat with lots of younger people around our age. the second time we went was in april and there were a lot more families with young kids, so it wasnt too much of a party lol.

I forget the one we went on last year - it was out of New Orleans and it went to two places in Mexico. Honestly, it was just 'eh.' It's geared WAY MORE towards families than young couples.

I did Carnival Destiny.

We had a great time. We were upgraded to a private balcony suite room... so that was super!!

I have to say though... I wasn't a huge fan of the food. It was all buffet style and seemed like it had either been out a while... or was just overcooked... I feel like a lot of buffet foods start to get overcooked due to the candle thingy (what's that called again?? haha).

Re: Carnival Cruises

I've been on 5 cruises (all Carnival) and going on my 6th in September. Never had a complaint about the food or the people. I've always had a great time!

I've never been on those ships but I've been on various 'classes' of Carnvial ships and haven't found much of a difference besides size and layout. Imagination and Inspiration are a little older so they are smaller, especially compared to Royal ships. I've been on their sister ship, Sensation, twice and loved it! Freedom will definitely be the bigger and newer of the ships although they all go through various renovations.

Imagination and Inspiration recently went through renovations and they've added some waterslides and the Serenity Adult area which I have to say is amazing. The lounge chairs are so comfortable and you don't have kids running around or in the hot tubs. It's very peaceful!
