cat girls...talk to me

cat girls...talk to me

I think I have to leave slash home alone for the first night tonight. I have school from 6-9...leaving class early to get my taxes done at 8 out on long island. I've been up since 5:30 bc I had to drive DH to the airport...I probably won't be done with taxes until 9 or so bc I'm getting mine and DH's done.

I don't think I'm gonna have it in me to drive from LI to NJ at 9-9:30...

I feel so bad...tell me it is okay to leave him home alone for one night...I will be home tomorrow morning as early as possible.

I think you'll be fine, did you leave enough water and food out?

He may be more affectionate anyway. If I smother my cats they're like 'GO AWAY MOM'. If I leave them alone they purr and jump all over me.

This may just be the cats I know but they don't seem to have separation anxiety like most dogs do.

He'll be just fine. It's like DH leaving you home alone for a night...good time for him to relax and enjoy the quiet for one night!

he'll be totally fine ... one night alone is perfectly ok as long as you obviously leave him plenty of food & water (and clean his litterbox right before you leave).

one thing though - make sure all doors are either closed, or propped open ... don't want a door to accidentally close and have poor Slash-y stuck in a room.

He will be more than fine! We went to DC this weekend - left Saturday morning, home Sunday evening - and Vixen was very good. Definitely was excited to see us, but before you knew it, she was just chillin out and relaxing... like 'oh yay you're back! ok cool, i'm going back to sleep now.'

I wish I could do this. I need a cat sitter! We can't leave food out b/c he will eat it all. He's a baby MONSTER! We have to feed him twice a day. Once in the morning and when we come home at night. And he will let us know very well it's time to eat. He meows like he's screaming at us!

when we went for our HM we left the cats alone for 7 nights. we left A LOT of food, water and bunch of kitty litter for them. they were completely fine.
so ye leaving him for one night isnt a big deal. these are cats, they are very independent

I agree with the first part.

But the second...it all depends on the cat.

You might get kisses...or pee in your shoe. Or both.

Re: cat girls...talk to me

I suppose *I* am the one with separation anxiety. I guess I'm just nervous because it is the first time he'll be alone for that long. I grew up with cats so I totally get it that they're okay to be left alone...but this is different...its SLASH MAN!

I hope my wittle baby boo boy doesn't get scared...

I collected all of his favorite toys and put them on our bed with his blanky...I gave him TONS of fresh water...filled up his dry bowl and left 2 cans of wet out. He isn't a monster with food at all...he only eats when he is hungry (wish I could learn this trick)...

Now, the question is....do I tell Kieran or do I just let it slide and not mention it? I won't fib if it comes up but Kieran is obsessed with Slash...in the best, sweetest possible way...K is in Chicago for the week and he has the worst separation anxiety of us all! He asks about slash nonstop and asks for text pictures...

Sorry - just tell me to shut the eff up if I'm sounding crazy now...

As long as you leave enough food and water, he'll be absolutely fine.

We've left our kitties alone for one night. If it's more than one, my Dad goes over to feed them and such.

When I leave my cat alone for the weekend (with extra food/water) the only difference it makes is that he's kinda pissy for the first 5 seconds after I walk in the door...then he whines for the next hour and a half no matter how much attention I pay to him.

Cats are fine being left alone...I wouldn't worry about it.

Seriously -- you could leave a cat alone for several days.

Would he be lonely? Perhaps.

But just make sure you scoop the litter box before you go and leave him a bunch of kibblets...

isn't that the point of cats? They are self reliant unlike they're needy brothers... the canines (i.e. the better pet )

Just messing. But seriously -- my parents are on a cruise right now and even though my brothers are 'home' they are seriously home for like an hour a day and don't pay attention to the cats. They put the food down and leave.

You know the cats are just doing what they're probably always doing. i.e. looking out the window then taking a nap. repeat.

or try to eat your lollipops or the bag of pretzels your husband left on the coffee table before coming to bed the night before....

Leaving for a nite or maybe a day n half is fine but I couldnt do for days. Spookie would prob not use the litter box if it was too full of crap, I mean cats are super self efficient but the only animal id leave for days is one I was trying to kill ( wouldnt ) or DH
