Change of Plans for Wedding Anniversary.... NEED New Ideas Please!!!
I had Posted that for our 1 year we were going to do a Cruise....
Well, over the last couple of days, & finalizing on things tonight, we decided to Not do the Cruise. We Decided to Not do Anything THAT BIG!!!
We really can not Afford it. We are looking towards the future & really have to Start Budgeting.
We do belong to a Vacation Club, so we plan on taking a get-away-weekend some where we can drive to.
We are already going to Boston/Salem for a week in August.
So Any Ideas Ladies???
We would like no more than a 5-6 Hour Drive. We like to go to Museums & Aquariums Thanks In Advance!!!!

How about Washington DC?
Tons of sights to see ... the Georgetown area is really cute with lots of little shops, and I think they have some nightlife there too ...
We stayed there a few years ago visiting my cousin who lives in Maryland, if you think you'd be interested I can try to remember where we stayed.

Re: Change of Plans for Wedding Anniversary.... NEED New Ideas Please!!!
My cousin lives in Silver Spring ... we stayed once in a hotel near them, I would *never* do that again! I think we picked a hotel on the wrong side of town!
But we've stayed in the area two other times actually, now that I think of it.
Once, was for his wedding weekend ... we stayed in Downtown DC. It was a ritzy hotel, within walking distance of a lot of the monuments.
Capital Hilton 1001 16th Street NW Washington, District of Columbia, USA, 20036 1-202-393-1000
The other time, we stayed in Georgetown ... which is where I was talking about in my post above. We stayed at Georgetown Suites ... it was nice, and less pricey than the Hilton. But a totally different atmosphere ... more of a hip college town than a national monument
Georgetown Suites 1111 30th St. NW Washington, DC 20007 1-800-348-7203
Also, I'm pretty sure we have a couple of newlyweds in the area ... I think melbalalala lives there?

Newport RI. You can go to the Mystic Aquarium on the way & you can tour the mansions. And there is a zoo in Providence (30 min away)

DC is definitely a great idea. When I was in high school, we went on a trip there and there was so much to do and we were only teenagers. There is a great science museum there with lots of interactive things to do (I believe it is just a few minutes outside of DC) There are so many other things there to do is well, but I loved that one the most.

DC is an awesome idea!! That is where DH & I went on our honeymoon. We stayed in Gaithersburg,, MD and took the Metro into DC everyday. We had a great time. The Smithsonian is awesome, We are planning to go back for our first anniversary. I have all kinds of books @ tourist maps if you are interested.
