Changing my name at SSA

My DH went to SS yesterday for me and dropped off all the paperwork to change my name. All done & I should have my new card in 2-3 weeks I think.

What do you have to do? I downloaded that form off the internet. So do I just fill out that one sheet of paper and what do I bring? Can you go to any SS office?

They ask for SS Card, photo ID, marriage liscense and maybe one other id. I sent my health Insurance Card. Yes I think you can go to any SS office.

I was thrilled when I found out I didn't have to go since I'd have to take time off & DH did it on his way home from work.

you don't have the physical card?

I know they kept my card when he turned in the paperwork

I think I may actually go in person to do it. The mail delivery by my house stinks!

I just got one of my response cards in the mail Monday

i got my new card in 2 weeks - wasn't a painful procedure at all :)
went to the one in freeport - very fast line - and the people on line there are entertainment in and of themselves :)

now DMV is another story from what I hear ......
