if you go in person to SS office and DMV they give you your marriage license back right away that day right? we don't have to leave it with them right? i don't want to part with it because i only have one...do i really need to get copies of our marriage license to give to these places?

they do not keep it
they do what they need and give it back

my advise, go to SS first

go to SS first. they just look at the license, take the info they need off of it and then hand it right back to you. same with the DMV

Im going to DMV tomorrow. Is this all I need? Soc Sec card (already new name on it), current license, registration, marriage license,,,, any other forms??
