Changing Name at the DMV

Changing Name at the DMV

What do you need with you to change your name at the DMV? I already did it with SS and got my card in the mail, but is it really only your Marriage License and Drivers License? Also - how long until you get the new one??

Yes, just drivers license & marriage license.
I got mine in about 1 week ON my birthday

and 15 bucks ... but they only charged me 10 for some reason. The website said 15 dollars.

IF you are going to the DMV you should get your car title and registration changed as well... you need your original car title for that.

I had to change my name and I had an out of state license from living in Nc- so I needed my old license, social security card, and marriage license. And it cost $42 dollars!!!

I would also download the forms and have them filled out before you get there...one less thing to do while there

Where was your out of state license from....mine- NC! I just checked my receipt and they charged me 42.50! Rip OFF!! My NC license was 10 bucks!

IF you are going to the DMV you should get your car title and registration changed as well... you need your original car title for that.

It is 15 for an address change, but only $10 for a name change. Ifyou are changingyour name you can change anything else at no charge. I changed both my name & address & only paid $10.

SC-they charged me $45 AND took my SC license away...so I had NO ID until I got the new one in the mail Funny thing...if you get pulled over w/o your license they arrest you whether you actualy have one or not...the lady at the DMV did NOT care

They took my NC license too! Is that true about the arresting BS? My sister has been pulled over without her license and the cop looked it up in his car?! Where in SC diod you live? I was living in Wilmington for the past 2 years.

MY DMV wanted my drivers licence, official marriage licence, marriage application, and 2nd forms of i.d. I did it right after the HM and I got it in about 2 weeks.
