Changing name on Soc. Security ?

What should I bring w/ me? I don't have my original S.S. card. I have marriage license and ID. Is that good?

That'll do it. Make sure your ID is a photo ID. They may ask you for your old SS card though. Did you lose it?

Now that I'm thinking of it, I think I lost it. I haven't seen it in a long time.

Re: Changing name on Soc. Security ?

You shouldn't need the old SS card. Just the marriage certificate and your Drivers License or photo ID. They didn't ask me for the old card at all. I just did it yesterday

Look at you being all proactive, making the rest of us 10/9 girls look like slackers.

Nferrandi tried to gett my but to the SS office, but I think I'm still having identity issues. . .

I'm with you, tourist. Some days I really want to change my name, some days I resent the fact that society expects me to. I am so torn!

Girls, don't feel bad. The only reason I am doing mine w/ S.S. is because my payroll is making me cause I changed my name at my job already.

Re: Changing name on Soc. Security ?

Ooooooh, don't even get me started with my job!! When I came back after the wedding, they had already changed my e-mail address to my new last name and gave me one week to let everyone know that my old e-mail address (with maiden name) would expire.

I know they were just trying to be helpful, but it has caused soooo much confusion around here. Plus, it seemed a little presumptuous to assume I would change my name...(even though I am planning to - eventually).

Re: Changing name on Soc. Security ?

I have to change mine too. This is the last thing I have to do. the book keeper at work is driving me nuts. I also have no idea where my SS card is. I guess I will bring my old license, new license, and marriage certificate and passport. That should do it I hope! The book keeper is driving me so nuts she will not make any checks made out to my new last name and will not deduct married on my taxes!
