changing their rings?

is anyone changing their rings? I love my ring but its white gold and I think I want platinum becuase my band keeps tarnishing and has scratches in it from wear and tear. I spoke with a jewler -she said that I would have to get a completly new band. - Is this like bad luck or something. Im not sure if i should just live with the tarnish for the sentiment. has anyone changed there rings around?

Re: changing their rings?

I think it depends on your own sentmentality.

Personally, I wouldnt want to change my ring b/c its value to ME lies in the idea that they were the very rings we used in our ceremony.

But if that aspect is not a big deal to you, you should get something you are happy to wear everyday.

Re: changing their rings?

DH had my e-ring setting totally changed when we got married because it was gold and our wedding rings were platinum with gold. He wanted me to be able to wear them together. We got married with the new ering and band so it still holds the same sentimental value for me.

Then, my diamond cracked so that has been replaced too - major dilemma there. I still love it and it still holds the same sentimental value.

Re: changing their rings?

My e ring and wedding band are white gold and sometimes they get dingy looking and scratched. When this happens I just get my ring dipped (rhodium)and it looks brand new

Re: changing their rings?

honestly all rings can get scratched. I have a diamond plat. band and a plain white gold band. neither of which have had any problems.
I am not sure what I would do if I was issues though. My rings hold a lot of sentiment for me.

Re: changing their rings?

In the beginning I looked at both together & thought they looked to be 'too much' or I thought my wedding band takes away from my e ring (although others say it doesnt take away) but I got it because I don't plan to always wear my ering when I have a baby, it is set high & may scratch the baby, so my wedding band, I think, looks great alone too.

I second guessed it after for the 1st 2 weeks, but will never change it, I now grew to love the look & it holds to much sentimental value for me to ever change it.

Re: changing their rings?

PS-My band is platinum too, and it scratches but does not tarnish.

Get yours dipped in rhodium every now & then. It will look like new.

Re: changing their rings?

I'm going to have my e-ring setting changed. It's only a temporary setting anyway. The jeweler gave it to my DH for free just so he could give me the ring. The setting he really wanted wouldn't have been ready in time....
