Sorry if this has been addressed already, I did a search and couldn't find anything. Did any of you change your W-4 with your job to married instead of single? Is there a benefit to doing that? Any info would be appreciated

Re: Changing to 'married' on W-4
You don't have to change your W-4, you have more taxes taken out if you claim single normally and then should have to pay less at the end of the year. On the W-4 there is an option that says married but filing single that you can check off.

I changed mine and I ended up with a little bit more $$ in my check each week.

As an accountant, I recommend keeping your status the same the first year to see how it works with your tax return. If you end up getting a large refund, then you can change it so you get less taxes taken out, however then the following year your refund will be less. Also, if you do not have a mortgage or any other tax write offs, its best to keep it single.
