DH and I go to Chicago on weekend trips (we currently live in Ohio)...he actually proposed there! Here are a few things that are fun (some cheap, some not-so-cheap):
-We always stay at the Champagne Lodge (sounds cheesy, but it's beautiful), which is actually 20 minutes outside of Chicago. If you stay in Chicago, you are going to spend a lot of money on a hotel...staying outside of Chicago gave us the option of being somewhere really beautiful for a less expensive price. FM me if you want info.
-Giordano's Pizza...it's the best pizza in Chicago according to all of our friends, family, and students. They have two places--one in Chicago, and one that's actually a few blocks away from the hotel I mentioned above. The one in Chicago is usually at least an hour wait, and the one closer to the hotel we've actually never had to wait for a table. Pretty awesome and very tasty.
-Frontera Grill...it's the restaurant owned by Rick Bayless (Top Chef Masters winner). AMAZING.
-Obama's House...pretty cool to see from the outside (at least for us it was).
-Miracle Mile for some shopping .
-Millenium Park
-There are a lot of great plays and improv shows all around the city.
-Shedd Aquarium
-Lots of different Art Museums
We absolutely love Chiago .

I stayed at the W Lakeshore when I went. It was so nice but it was kinda far to walk to anything!
But it is right on the lake so its GORGEOUS.
Wrigleyville was like 10 mins by cab.

there is an AWESOME le parker merdian. everyone there is so nice!
also. its a bit 'out of the way' but there is this PHENOMENAL chinese place . i need to find out the name!! damn. i thought i knew it but i just googled and didnt find it. i have to ask a friend. you gotta go
night life is fun too! buddha bar and some other places around there!
only annoying thing is that all the locals compare it to NY. it was cute to hear the first time, but then it just got annoying. just warning you now....
