Chicken Casserole; Absolutely yummy!!!!!!

1.5 lbs. chicken
1 16 oz. container sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup
6 slices white American cheese
2 small boxes chicken flavored stuffing

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Use glass baking pan 13x9

Cut chicken into small cubes, then brown in pan 'til no longer pink.
Make stuffing according to box directions

First Layer in baking dish, put cooked chicken

Second layer, ontop of chicken, put the can of mushroom soup and the sour cream ( Don't dilute the soup)

Third layer, put the slices of cheese

Fourth layer, pat stuffing down.

Bake for 20 minutes, uncovered.

Mary this sounds delish!!! My question is, I actually HATE sour cream! Do you think this could be made without out?

Ok similar question - I LOATHE mushrooms. can we do this with a different cream of something soup?

Haha it's not healthy but heavy cream. It will have a similar texture without the tang of sour cream. Or maybe just 2 cans of the soup because then there would be enough liquid. I'll have to play around with it and let you know.

Cream of chicken or cream of celery-that's what I would do because I don't like mushrooms either.

I knew our inhouse chef, Brianna, could solve this!!!! I think I actually have used the cream of celery soup to replace the mushroom, and, Brianna, it's nice to know about the heavy cream, instead of sour, but I do like the sour. Thanks, hon!!!! Mary MOB
