So DH doesnt eat salad or veggies. but last night he tried a salad I got while out to eat that was chopped very fine. He said he liked it and said he wants to start eating salad and asked if I could make salads chopped that way. Do you think if I chop everything and then throw it in a food processor on low for like a couple of seconds it will be okay? Im not the best at chopping veggies- especially into small pieces... LOL.

Re: chopping veggies
I personally wouldn't use the food processor. That'll make mush. Try using a mandoline slicer. They come with a few different blades and they are so easy to use.
April posted some choppy thing thew other day that would work.

I can also just use the knives I have. But I hate prepping food. I wish i was like Giada and the other cooking people where everything was in cute lil bowls all ready for me to throw in the pan.

I know exactly what you mean! But I swear now that I started to use my mandoline, I use it for EVERYTHING. Its SO EASY. Literally takes seconds to slice & chop. Its addicting.

Re: chopping veggies
I read your post and couldn't help laughing. If my DH ever asked me to chop his salad and veggies fine, I would suggest he go to the dentist to have his dentures checked to find out why he couldn't chew.
On a nicer note, you can put all the veggies and stuff in the food processor on pulse. Just do a rough chop, let the machine do the rest. I'd do lettuce separately to avoid making that too fine. Tupperware makes a manual processor that works really well. Easier than lugging out the whole Cuisinart.
Must be a texture thing......I don't understand why people can't chew a salad, they now need for them to be chopped.
eta : I couldnt't get info on the Tupperware manual processor I have, but this is a tabletop chopper from Pampered Chef. Pampered Chef BBB or Fortunoff should have something similar.

LOL ya my DH hates lettuce, but said if its really chopped fine he can tolerate it. I love veggies so for me it doesnt matter how it is prepared. But he really wants to try to eat better, so we are going to try this out!

Re: chopping veggies
I used my mini chopper to chop up veggies for an omelet one day and it was a bit too juicy when I Was done (and I only pulsed it). It might be ok for the salad. Or why dont you buy shredded lettuce? You know the kind that comes in the bag and you use it in your tacos and stuff?

ya I wanted to, but DH gets freaked out now by bagged lettuce. I told him they were fine now, but he was a pain about it. LOL.

Re: chopping veggies
I use the Chopper from Pampered Chef. It's great and doesn't make the food mushy like a food processor would.

Re: chopping veggies
We sometimes use our hand chopper- that would probably do the trick.
and I've seen people make chopped salads with this
