Christmas related Would you be upset?

Ok Before I got married Mike moved into the apt. We are in right now. I love it its huge has a huge kitchen dinning room living room 3 bedrooms. I was so excited because it is big enough to have a holiday So I told my cousin and my mom I wanted to have Christmas. Mike and I both work in retail and Christmas is the only holiday we have off for the whole day. The other day my lovely cousin downstairs ( ) told me our aunt who lives across the street said she wanted to have Christmas cause her son is coming in from north carolina he moved last month and has been here 2 times already and will be here for thanksgiving also. I am thinking to myself but in April I told you I wanted to have christmas? I was talking to my other aunt who is just so pissed off with this whole stupid thing said you have christmas and we will come there life is to short. I told her I don't want to start a fight. My aunt reminded me that the aunt who wants to have christmas is jewish anyway. Im trying so hard to not get upset but I can't help it. I wanted to do this since april when we moved in. What should I do.

I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud at that one!!!!

Can your Jewish aunt have Christmas eve? I would go over and explain to her that this is really the only day you and Mike have off together and it would really mean a lot to you to do it. If she still insists, then screw her. The people who are important (like your good aunt) will be there, and the people who are not (like you cousin) will not. Better off without them I think.

Good luck

Re: Christmas related Would you be upset?

I laughed too when my aunt said it also. I just want to say I do not mean to disrespect the faith at all. I love all. I just think it was funny that my aunt has to have christmas when in reality she doesnt even celebrate it her kids do.

Am I acting like a child. Its just our first christmas together you know.

ETA: Her kids celebrated both for years.. I think they celebrate Christmas now.

Re: Christmas related Would you be upset?

I understand your frustration but since you both so close to your aunt, is it possible for the family to have it in both locations. Example: dinner & presents @ aunt's - dessert & coffee @ your place?

Re: Christmas related Would you be upset?

THAT'S WHAT WE USED TO DO, WHEN MY DH'S FAMILY LIVED NEARBY, DINNER WITH ONE AND DESERT WITH THE OTHER. EASIER FOR YOU, TOO!

Re: Christmas related Would you be upset?

Maybe she just forgot since it was back in APril when you mentioned it. I would just tell her that you guys have got this one and bring the kids from out of town. She may be relieved to not have to do anything big.

Re: Christmas related Would you be upset?

i would go across the street and tell your aunt that you asked everyone back in april if it was okay that you had christmas and you thought it was settled, if she prefers to have it her house she can always come across the street to your house for dessert or you will do the same. i would stick your guns and have christmas by you even if its just you and your dh. i think its your first christmas as husband and wife and its special dont let anyone else ruin your plans.

Re: Christmas related Would you be upset?

I would ask your Jewish aunt in exchange for Christmas maybe she would like to host... let's see...

Easter or
St. Patrick's Day or
All Saint's Day or
The Feast of St. Joseph or
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception (dec 8)

Hey, the last one might be good!

That is just too funny!
