Christmas Traditions

Christmas Traditions

DH & I are hosting Christmas this year, and I'd really like to start some traditions during the day. I'm sure we will be able to add more when we have kiddies, but I'd like to start some now. So far we have:

-Reading of Luke's Gospel before dinner (the part on the birth of Jesus)
-Possibly doing a 'Dutch Christmas' (the game where everyone brings a gift wrapped up...everyone gets a number...person who gets number 1 picks a gift, person who gets number 2 picks a new gift or 'steals' from number 1 and so forth...)

And that's it. And I'm not even positive about the Dutch Christmas idea...what do you think of it?

ETA: I meant to ask a question in the original post. Whoops!

Does anyone have any Christmas tradition? I want to add some.

Dutch Christmas sounds fun!

What about getting Christmas crackers? It's a European thing. You pull the ends and the center pops, and inside are silly little things like paper crowns, whistles, confetti, candy, etc..

I want to start xmas traditions as well! Right now our only tradition is to do xmas eve at his parents and xmas with my family.

I think Xmas morning I'm going to make a huge breakfast and then we'll exchange gifts.

Re: Christmas Traditions

I guess we started one last year. We had a friends only xmas party. We did a secret santa thing. This year we had a bigger one (just this past weekend) and did an ornament exchange again lots of fun!

It's sort of becoming our thing as friends have already made suggestions for it next year. Next year it's already decided it's going to be a holiday pajama party!!! Comfy clothes, yummy food and strong drinks! Then everyone there can crash as they are already in their pajamas

We do Christmas Eve at his grandmother's house and Christmas Day with my family.

With his family every year they read 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' and my family plays a present game.
