I noticed you recently moved back to NY from CA. Where in CA were you? We're in SF.

We're planning that same move in the next year or so, so I'm really interested in your perspective - how was it going back? Did you move back to LI? Was there an adjustment period? Was it hard finding jobs? Did you buy a house?

Lots of questions, I know. But the subject is at the forefront of our minds lately.

If I get laid off, it might push up our move to next month or so. (Schwab's annoucing layoffs in the next few weeks).

I don't know what opportunities there would be for Al - he's in product design/mech engineering right now (which is huge out here) and while I could find another finance/prod development job in NYC, I really don't want the commute (or the finance job).

Both of us have most of our family on Long Island. We want to be close to them (especially when we have kids), but not TOO close.
