I got a pasta set for our wedding. We used them for a couple of months then one day we took them out and we found the bottom batch were growing mold. We cleaned them in hot water and dried them really well and put them back into the cabinet. It happened again!! Tried cleaning them again and the mold has returned. Not only that, but between the bowls is wet. I'm tempted to just throw them out, but has this happened to anyone else before?

Re: Clean but moldy dishes
I would clean them with vinegar, put them away, and see what happens.
Also, I'd check for a leak into the cabinet.

It's so bizarre. It's like they are creating a mold factory. I'm thinking back to earth science and the creation of clouds from moisture on the ground - but I put them in clean, dry (In a leak-free cabinet - good thought though) and at room temp. Ok I'm thinking too hard about this and they are getting thrown out. Oh well.

I would throw them away..no matter how well I clean them or dry them I would always *see* mold and taste it..Trash it

vinegar and soapy water - hot to warm water wash it, dry it and then put it away if it happens again the dishes are creating the mold because maybe they don't have a glaze and are absorbing water and then mold is being created.

I was thinking that it might be a problem with the dishes!! They are already in the recycling bin. Is it something that happens with certain dish types or was there a defect in this set. I want to buy a new set, but I don't want this to happen again.

I think that they are stoneware. I went on the BBB website to find out what they are and they don't seem to carry them anymore. This is quite the mystery to me.
