Cocktail hour seating

Hey ladies, sorry to intrude but I posed this question on the BHB side and did not get a huge amount of response.

Is there normally seating for everyone at the cocktail hour?

free for all. People mingle and sit wherever they want, I have never seen assigned seating at a cocktail hour. That is where people usually pick up their place card and mingle and greet etc etc

I answered in your other post but the general idea is to mingle, not to sit an eat (that is what the reception is for)

I think some people stand but the main thing is that is where everyone is supposed to mingle and pick up seating card for reception.

I'm a big fan of available seating during cocktail hours -- but I've never seen seats available for more then 75% of the guests. People are always standing.

It depends on the room the cocktail hour will be in. My biggest pet peeve when going to a wedding is making sure there is enough seating for everyone.
That was on eof the biggest thing I looked for when picking my hall. Most people do mingle, but it is nice to sit and eat.

All of our guest had seats. They did not seem to all sit, but it was nice that seating was an option.

Most LI or Westchester weddings I have attended have about 75% seating. Most NYC weddings Ive attended have about 25%.

My cocktail hour and reception were in the same room at the Milleridge (an idea I really like, but I know some turn their noses up to), so when guests arrived, they picked up their place card and could sit at their actual table. But, most didn't sit at that time, everyone still mingled for the most part.
