I am a little confused about my marriage license After the ceremony, is the priest supposed to mail in the license that we signed so we can get an official Marriage Certificate? Also does anyone know how long that takes? And do I need that in order to change my last name?

Mine took amonth to arrive. Yes, the Priest, Officiant, etc mails it to the state.
Call your town hall and inquire...i'm sure everything is fine.

Unfortunately, it sometimes can take up to 6 weeks. At the 6 week mark, I would be concerned.

Mine came while I was away on my honeymoon so it took less than 2 weeks for me.

hrmm Since we got married at City Hall it got to us in a few weeks.
Tell you this though.. we didn't need the official gold sealed one to change my name.
All I needed was the paper one that the clerk gave us after we paid.
I don't know if using a priest you got nothing saying 'you're married' (mine didnt say that) or saying Mr. blah blah wed Ms. blah blah on X date.
I had that and used it to change my name. Later I got the real thing that has my married name on it. Kinda cool by the way.

I got married on the 10th of October and I still didnt get mine... Maybe I will call the hall tomorrow or Monday...

Mine came while I was on my honeymoon too and I was only gone for about 8 days.

Mine came within 1-2 weeks. You do need it to change your name on several things. EX: Drivers license, SS card, Bank accounts, etc.

Xelindrya: did you change your name before your wedding? You were saying that you used the paper copy that you get at City Hall, but isn't that what gets mailed in? The paper copy that the two witnesses, the bride, groom and officiant sign?
