Contractor recommendations?

I know this is a shot in the dark but can anyone recommend a reliable and trustworthy contractor that would work in Brooklyn?

I have several home improvement projects that I would love to do but I dont know where to find a reliable contractor. Of the few friends I have that own their home, they have all had terrible experiences with seemingly trustworthy firms.
