Anyone know anything about the Coral House - how is the food/price? Is the place shabby or is it updated and nice? A lot of the places I go to have old carpeting that smells because it's so old - I don't want that! Also, how is the location? I can't tell from the pictures how it is. Please let me know!

Re: Coral House
I went to check out the coral house today and I didn't like it at all! As we were waiting to go into the office to meet with the lady there I was looking for a garbage can to throw out a wrapper. I saw what I thought was a garbage can and threw it in there but later a waiter passed by and looked at it and said 'Hey it must be raining' - the bucket was there collecting water!!!!! And it wasn't the first time either - the paint had MAJORLY bubbled and cracked! If you are getting married here - voice these concerns!!!

Re: Coral House
48 days now Noreen!
I chose the Coral House & I was there 2 days ago to pick something up I needed. I don't see any problems with the place and I look everytime I go. If there is a problem, I am sure it will be corrected. The place has been in business for many years and has a great reputation.
I chose it because I have heard repeatedly, the food is excellent and I like the lake and the Victorian decor.
I also got alot for my money and I am having over 200 guests and I like the room we got, it's huge and suits our taste. I could have gotten married in alot of other places, but this was the one 'for us'. I am sorry you didn't like it. I am happy with my choice.

Re: Coral House
OH no i agree with you - it is beautiful!!! You must have the rooms downstairs - what a great view!! Just make sure because we were there while the rain was heavy and right across from the stairwell the roof was leaking.

Re: Coral House
Thanks & Good Luck finding a place. There are so many beautiful places on LI, I know the decision is hard. We looked so many places & for the # of people we are having, either the rooms were too small, or too marble looking for us, or the price was too high, hih meaning $110 a head & up. I wanted something 'different' if you will, and Victorian is not me, so for us that was our 'different'.
How many people are you having?

Re: Coral House
I'm loooking at about 100 - 110 (the Fitobe's family is all in Europe) - it's hard to find a hall because I don't meet minimums - but I have actually booked the Sand Castle - the upstairs room for a reception is beautiful! We're just looking to make sure we cover all the bases

Re: Coral House
Be careful looking at halls after you booked one, I did that, and it came back to haunt me. I ended up canceling the first hall and losing my deposit.

Re: Coral House
I know I know - we're doing rather because we feel we didn't look around enough (just so we can look back and said we looked everywhere we could) I've been to about 10 after booking Sand Castle and I'm not happy with them as I was with Sand Castle. SomedayBride - where did you cancel and where did you book?
