This should be on recipe board, but I am hoping SonicStef has some ideas!
What is a good way to collect recipes? I picture a box being overcrowded. And I dont' want to keep them on the computer...I guess some kind of book? Any ideas?

Re: creative recipe holder
Not too creative, but you could print them all on small index cards and file them in a photo album in those clear pages. Or, another idea I saw the other day on MS Living, she laminated recipes, punched holes in the sides and put them in a three ring binder.

Re: creative recipe holder
Not creative but I keep mine all in a 3 ring binder as well. I copy or type them in a word doc and then print out when I get a bunch and put them in my binder. I have all tabs and color coding by food item or meal to make it more organized! Works for me.
gosh...I shove them in a box...I really have to get organized....
I would love to hear other ideas...

I have some of mine in a 3 ring binder. I bought the plastic protectors and they are great to slip in magazine and internet recipes that I get!!
So many recipies...but I make the same thing all the time!!

Re: creative recipe holder
I have a few recipe holders. Some are like photo albums but made for recipes. I also have a 3 ring binder that I use when I photo copy cookbook recipes that I take out of the library. Do you want to display them?
One really nice thing to do is to ask your grandmothers, aunts, best friends, mom etc... to write down (in their handwritting, not computer) their recipes that you love. My grandmother did that for me with one recipe and I regret not having her do it with more of them. When she passed, I photocopied it and sent it to all of the grandchild so we would all have a copy. Again, it is nice to keep memories like that.

I think the 3 ring binder is a great idea. I'd like to display some of the 'special ones' - that is a great idea. In fact what a GREAT Christmas gift for my sisters...photocoipes of our family cookie recipes in a frame.
Thanks guys!!!

Re: creative recipe holder
I have one that I ordered on QVC or HSN, can't remember which one and I can't find a pic. It has clear pages that you slide your recipes in with sections for different meals and the back of it kicks out so it stands up while you cook. It is great but again something I need to organize because I just throw recipes in!!!

I'm not a newlywed but I've seen one of those big frames with holes for like 10 photos in the kitchen and in each hole there is a recepie. If it is too long, the hold next to it is used. Just an idea!

Re: creative recipe holder
www.foodtv.com has a binder you can buy. it bends in the middle.
what size were you thinking? you can get your own binder and sheet protectors. when it starts to get crowded either clean them out or start another book- sep for veges and side dishes.
or if you hate your counters and walls, you can just paste them there. i don't really recomend the last idea but hey- its your house.

Re: creative recipe holder
I have all my recipes on the big index cards. I put them all in a binder with the sheet protecters. You can fit 4 to a page front & back. I also got dividers and made catagories for it. Meat Vegies Etc. And also any tips & misc. info. It works well for me and it stays organized.

This is what I have---it matches our dishes--although I have to admit I still have not moved all the cards from my shower recipe box!!!

Re: creative recipe holder
Hey that is nice! Mine is just a plain old binder I bought at staples. Yours looks like phaltzgraff (sp) Summer Breeze.

You hit it right on the mark!!! My MOH has the same plates and is beyond obsessed--so she constantly finds new accessories--and this was one of them

Re: creative recipe holder
You girls are just too organized for me thanks for the great ideas. Right now I just have things stuffed in a box . I have to get organized. But then again I very rarely use recipies.
Pfaltzgraf makes boxes and binders that matcha few of their patterns....
I think I am going to look for some recipe index cards...and jst try to find a box for them...maybe at an office store? but I should be doing something

Re: creative recipe holder
I have the summer breeze. I have never seen anything like that. I get the catalogs all the time. Do they have that stuff in the outlets out east?

Re: creative recipe holder
Summer breeze has the recipe card and box or the binder that I posted above-- usually the outlet has the box with cards but the binder is made by another company--Pfaltzgraff must have leased the pattern to them--- You can find both online Laura Summer Breeze Recipe Box and Cards
