cuz only kris answered on LIF. need help- wwyd UPDATE

I work in an office where we have a security guard downstairs. There's only 5 total employees plushim. I think he might have a little crush on me. So he gives me a card today that says To: Blue Eyes (cuz he says he only likes girls with blue eyes, like me). And it has $40!!!!! I wasnt planning on giving anyone a gift, especially that much money (which, in my field is a lot).

What should I say to him? I just took the card and opened it in the privacy of my office. Should i give it back to him? ughh


UPDATE:
i gave it back to him saying that it was against company policy. he looked a little suprised and embarrased but he was cool about it. thanks for your input ladies (esp kris!)

i think you could keep the card but i would give the money back to him and tell him while its so sweet of him to think of you and you;re happy to keep the card you simply can't accept money like that...

OR make up a rule and say its against the rules to accept money...

I would totally give it back to him and say, 'I'm sorry, I cannot accept this! This is innapropriate!'

Ughhh! I wouldn't want to give it back because I wouldn't want to hurt his feelings, but $40 is a lot! And I wouldn't have gotten him anything either... maybe just go out and get him something? That's a tough one...

Can you say somethink like our company policy says not to accept any kind of gratuities. But thank him and ask him to donate to a cause.

like most said I would give it back and say that its so kind and thoughtful but u cant accept money and that the card was so nice and how much appreciate him thinking of u like this but u really cant accept any gifts

That's tough... If it is cash I would just thank him and tell him you can't accept it... You don't want to hurt his feelings, he was probably just trying to be nice so I would just be as nice as possible when bringing it back.

hmmm...i probably wouldn't give him anything because I wouldn't want him to get the wrong impression. But I'd probably put the money in a card and just explain in the card that you appreciate the thought but can't accept it.
