Daily Motivational 'lets Get Buff!' thread

Ok ladies I don't know about the rest of you but I need to find myself in the gym today. Since I got hurt a month or so ago I have slacked soooo much and I can see the muscle tone I lost and feel it when I try to pick things up-very frustrating.

I stilll ache-need physical therapy for the neck./shoulder But I can build my lower body. Nothing wrong with my legs cept laziness!

So as of today i am going to try and overcome the frustration and just go back. So I can't lift as much or run as far as I could a few months ago. big deal. I can build up again. But I need to GO for that to happen.

(LOL Ive been trying tpo pep talk myself all weekend! I need help!)

Todays a new day for the buff bikin bod to come..who is with me?!!!

I effin LOVE it. I changed my routine in that I don't work out in the morning or at lunchtime anymore so it's weird forcing myself to go at night, but once I'm there... it's all good.

I hear you on the frustration part... once you start seeing results, the motivation will get easier & easier.

Oh good. Yea night is hard for me. I ahve to try for the mornings and lunch again but I stopped going for awhile to my usual gym because one of the trainers kept harassing me and I didnt want to do the b*tch thing and go to the supervisors. BUT someone told em this morning (doorman) that there is another one literalyl down the block from me. Its small but quiet so if all I need is a treadmill, Im going there during lunch.

Your son still likes the gym too?

yup. he gives me a hard time when I come to pick him up b/c he doesn't want to leave... AT night there are usually a bunch of boys his age in there playing dodgeball and what not. He loves it.

I have a 2 hour time limit which s u x for him but cool for me b/c I always rushed my workouts into an hour... now i take my time and usually leave after an hour & 1/2... but it's good that I have up to 2 hours.

You can do it Jen! Just take it easy--don't go too hard today since it's your first day back after your injury.
Today is a day of rest for me. I put in good workouts over the weekend. Yesterday DH and I went for a run outside (we haven't gone outside for a run in months). It was still a little chilly for me but I did well. The first time ever, I out ran him. In all fairness, his sneaks are shot and his foot was bothering him. But I've never heard him say 'I'm gonna walk now, you run up ahead.' That's usually my job I think all the interval training on the treadmill is paying off in terms of building endurance.

Damn you're good lol. I try to get an hour in but I only do 30 min of cardio and then one major body part at a time so usually another 40 minutes suffices. I don't rest much in between but then again Ive dropped so much weight not really worth the resting.

Its good he likes it though. That allows you to wrk out more calmly.

THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!! How long did you guys run for?

I have a hard time running outside. so much harder than the treadmill But Im going to try and build up my endurance again.

This is a little TMI but its pretty funny...

I 'attacked' the Dh yesterday and we christianed the couch..AHEM...YET when it was all over my thigh muscles were KILLING ME. Like OMG pain The crippling kind in my quads....

SO on that note I REALLY need to go back to the gym!

Lots of squats girl. Gotta build the love muscles
We ran for about 30 minutes--maybe a little less b/c I ran/walked one of the big hills (I HATE hills--need to build up to them). But after one loop around, we were approaching our block and I said let's keep going. He was like 'who are you?'

i think sadly this week will be a rest week for me...just too much going on at the office and i'll be here late and early again tomorrow. but the good news is that my picky eating and logging all my food is paying off. I dropped 4 lbs from where I was two weeks ago!

Jenn, hope you are feeling better soon.

I have hip hop tonight for an hour at my gym and then usually do some crunches and machines with my gym buddy after class. YES .. I have a gym buddy!! I was soooooo excited when I found her! We always take hip hop together every week and one day I was like F it- I am going to ask her to be my gym buddy and either she will think I am crazy or she will think it's a great idea- and she thought it was a great idea!! I LOVEEE spin classes- that is my 'Thing' and she had never taken one- so I got her to come with me and now she loves them too! So we take classes together and then work out together afterwards- so gay but it's amazing! She works down by my gym (I live across the st) so she better never change jobs or I am screwed! haha

Thanks Elizabeth! me too. I hate the idea of physical therapy but I hate this mushy mess that my body is beocming even more. So doing somethign about it!

ETA: I did go to the gym...I ran for a pathetic 110 minutes before I got winded, then did an equally pathetic 10 minutes on the stairmaster before I said 'UNCLE!' But I'll get there...

I did the hip machines-both of them and the leg extension and leg press so at leats I did SOMETHING! I really need a gym buddy..someone come be my friend!

Thanks Jenn!

I need this motivation!

When I get home - even though it will be very late from work - I need to force myself to exercise and I vow to!
