Day After shoots: Can we.....

Question?

We decided to do one and we think it will be lots of fun because the photographer does AMAZING work. She has a great eye and artsy edge so we're all kinds of excited cause she is also a cool, sweet person and I luuuv her as so many of us do here ....-grins-

But this is my question.

We obviously cannot recreate the wedding so is it ok you think to go pretty far out from it? Like I will be wearing my wedding dress but DH will probably just wear his black pin striped suit (which he looks dead sexy in ) and we will make him a boutioneere. I will just DIY a gerber/rose bouquet but throwing in tulips too because they would have been my choice if we'd gotten married in May when we wanted to but didnt due to school.

Our colors will be the same but my hair is obviously short now and not sure how long it will be for May wen we have this planned. I probably will wear my veil for at least some of the shots cause I loved it but I'm thinking of just tousling my hair in a more carefree style and sticking white gerbers in it. LOL very 'dance in the grass barefoot' kinda feel.

Our theory is that we always wanted a destination wedding but our fam was against it so we had it here. We wanted to be laid back and fun so since we cant recreate our actual day, we can make this a psuedo day-in pics anyway.

What do you guys think? Too wacky of an idea?

i think a day after shoot is the perfect opportunity to do stuff you didn't get to do on your wedding day! I'd probably try a different hair style, etc...this is your chance to get what you want so go for it!!!

this may sound silly... but since you will be doing this... why dont you renew your vows!!

I think that's a great idea.

We may do a day after shoot also and if we do,
DH is not going to wear a tux, prob. a suit. I'm going to have long sexy hair, unlike my wedding where it was up. I wasn't even going to do any flowers, just us.

We plan to renew our vows but in like 10 years when we can have a VERY SMALL affair with our closest people around us.

Yea Kath thats what i was thinking...making it more like an anniversay shoot-something fun wedding related but not trying to recreate the day cause thats impossible and more than kinda retarded in our opinions.

Jenn, all of your ideas sound great (as always). You guys are going to have so much fun-I'm jealous. Can't wait to see!!

Also, just a quick note, tried to download proofs last night to send to you but the CD's I have aren't big enough so I'll get the right ones this weekend and get it out to you.

Do whatever makes you happy and is fun. I love photos that really capture a fun carefree attitude. I like the flowers in the hair as long as you still shave your pits and don't get too flowerchild on us you will be ok.

ETA I really need to start proofreading.

For you Cat, I will even shave my legs. How about them apples? Though honestly, Oprah, you would think with all your charity work you would feel some compassion to hairy pits!

day after shots, to me, are more casual than the actual wedding shots - so i definitely think what you have planned will work.
I would love to do those (also a good excuse to wear my dress again!)

Too soon to renew vows???????? pshhhhhh, she's been married 3 months longer than me and I'll be renewing my vows in 2 weeks!

Jenn, I would do everything at your DAS that you would have liked to do but didn't at your wedding... like, second choice hair, second choice flowers, etc... do it like the destination wedding you would have liked to have.

This is basically what I'm doing for TWOTY. My dress is very different, and I want a different 'do too. I'm going to go with my second choice wedding hairstyle, etc. It's not often you get to be dressed as a bride again and take awesome pics, so go for it. I don't think it has to be a recreation of your wedding day.

That said, are you taking them with who I THINK you're taking them?
