Re: Destination Wedding

I did not have a destination wedding, but I strongly contemplated. I am a really simple person and I do not like all the hype and fanfare. I really wanted to elope.

My husband was just the opposite- he wanted a wedding and a big party- so I gave in.
I had a fabulous wedding- I was so happy that we did it.

It all depends on what your priorities are. IF you totally do not mind that your loved ones will not attend, then go for it. However if you are having any doubts and it does not feel 100% right, then maybe you should re think it.

Re: Destination Wedding

We didnt have one either but we definitely considered it seriously.

In the end, we realized that a destination would be just as expensive (since we would not allow our closest friends and family to pay for their own trip) and would not have all the traditional things that I find so fun at weddings.

The key to your deicsion is prioritization. What is more important to you? How to envision your wedding? What is realistically possible in your budget and your lifestyle? If you answer those questions, your answer might be right there.

Re: Destination Wedding

We considered this, but then it would have cost too much for everyone to travel there and they might eventually not want to come b/c of the cost so we did it right here at home. Make the decision that is best for you and your FI. On wedding Channel there is a big section of that board dedicated to Destination Weddings. I know people who have gone and done the wedding on the islands and then have a party when they returned. Happy planning.
