DH and car stuff

DH and car stuff

For the ladies who have there own car...does DH do all your 'car stuff' like oil change, inspection..and ESPECIALLY CLEAN THE SNOW off it!!!!!!!! the other day it snowed. DH goes out clean the drive way, clears the snow off his car, and i come out to go run an errand and see my car sitting with crap loads of snow on it, and his is clean...im like why couldnt u clean my car??? and he goes well you can do it, its your car!!.. so pissed off at that attitude. i dont know my dad always used to do everything for my moms car... i guess i wanted to carry on that tradition...

but carrying over that anger...a little while later DH goes im hungryyy whats for diinner. and i said 'its your stomache, make something yourself!'

My dad did that for my mom. I do everything for my car. I don't have to worry about snow on my car because it's in the garage. Sometimes I'll clean DH's car off or take it to get an oil change if he can't.

The stomach comment is hilarious lol

I have been thinking about learning how to fix my own car myself. I hate having to call DH to help me fix a flat or something like that, makes me feel so girly and weak lol I am just so afraid I am going to put the jack under the car in the wrong spot and it's going to mess my car up or fall on my head!

Being that I am a considerate person, if DH's car was near my car while I was cleaning my car off, then I would do his car. Unfortunately parking in Ridgewood $ucks so we are never near each other.

I think one year he dug me out and cleand off my car and I was floored lol I was like 'what the hell do you want?'. I dunno how I feel about it though if you both had a driveway and he went to clean off his car and not yours. I am pretty independent, so I wouldn't mind if he didn't , but if he was out there it would be nice to think that he would be considerate lol It's not a big deal either way :)

I have to say DH is really good with all of the car stuff. He changes my oil for me and the other day cleaned my whole car off (and my mom's) without me evern asking. Sometimes he takes my car to put gas in it too. Now if I could only get him to wash it

Dh is really good with car stuff. I think its becuase he knows if he doesnt do it, i probably never will My dad always took care of all the car maintenance for us so i just got used to that.

DH takes care of MOST of my car stuff. He does a lot of it himself (oil changes, brakes, belts etc.) if I need it but when it comes to inspections, air in tires (small things like that ) I can do it myself.

I dont think i've had to clean my car off once since I met DH. He's always going outside early to clean it off. unless its snowing while i'm at work, then obviously I do it myself lol I dont ask him b/c I know i'm perfectly capable of doing it myself, he just does it on his own

No. Its my car I do it myself. The snow thing is who ever is outside doing it first. If he does his car then he does mine and if I do my car I do his.

We only have 1 car and its DH's company car and he is very good about getting it serviced and making sure it has gas (but this is easier to do since its the company's money!)

We also have a garage so that helps with the snowy days But he is usually good about shoveling and stuff. If he is away then I make sure to shovel (even though it is a pain) but I know it makes it happy to know I did it!

DH is very good about doing oil changes, car washes, tire rotations and general car maintenance for me. It really saves us a lot of $$ and he is of the mindset that they auto guys won't take as much care and time as he would.
He really seems to enjoy it.

But my father, on the other hand, does not care at all about his cars, and needed to be reminded tens of times by my mother to even just change the oil in the car.

I guess cars and maintenance depend on the guy's personality.

nope, I fly solo when it comes to my car. He offers to clean it off when it snows but that's as far as it goes. He never actually does clean it off. He's also really busy with work all the time so I can't expect him to figure out when my car needs it's oil changed

We go for oil changes together. Sometimes we'll go the mechanic separately.

He does clean the snow from my car all the time & shovels, but this past storm I did it since he hurt his back.

DH always wipes off the cars. I think its b/c in our last apt, i went out first to start brushing the snow off and when DH came out, one of the maintenance guys yelled at him for letting me do it LOL

But we both take the cars for oil changes. He doesnt do it himself or anything. He does the air in the tires thing too although i am quite capable.

It depends. He usually drives me to work in the snow b/c he doesnt want me driving. He's pretty good with that stuff.

He also takes the snow blower over to my mothers and does her house too. He used to change my oil but now he makes me take the car to a place.

If its something he likes doing then yeh he'll take care of it. If its not, then no way.

DH does everything. He is a Auto Tech also so he does my oil changes and what ever else needs to be done. He did all this even before we were married also. And he cleans the snow off also. He even Walks me to my car to make sure I don't fall. But I think that has to do with the fact that I am prego also...lol

Ahhh!! I wish we had a high five icon on here. lol. That was FUNNY!

Yeah, my DH does everything for my car also. He changes the oil and shovels the snow off. He's also cleaned it before (but doesn't make it a habit). I kind of EXPECT him to, just like you do. lol.

He's also been wanting to put in some good speakers for me and tint the windows, but he expects ME to pay for it! haha. All of a sudden it's MY car now (even though he always argues that it's OURS when he wants to drive). lol

DH does all the car stuff or I get my brother to do it. I know how to change a tire if need be, but if I can get them to do it for me I won't complain.

I get my car serviced myself but DH will clear it off from me. When he gets home from work and he knows I'm working that night he clears the snow off. I would do the same for him but when I get home he's already left for work. Other than that we take care of our own cars.

That was a harsh way for your husband to put it. Good for you for telling to make his own dinner!! What's good for the goose...

Typically I take care of my own car stuff and DH takes care of his. He does brush the snow off both of our cars when need them on a snowy day. I take public transportation to work so unless he is driving my car, he just leaves it snow covered.

He does it all but sometimes not the snow because he leaves for work at 6am and I get up alot later.
