DH vent!

DH vent!

Okay so DH is having some issues with someone at work. I am sure that he WONDERFUL at work - courteous and nice and thoughtful regardless of the person AND situation.

THEN, he comes home to ME and he turns into a raving lunatic who doesnt understand that he doesnt want to deal with anything. I see him for less than two hours a day so I AM SO FREEKEN sorry that I have to ask you if we are going to your Grandmother's birthday dinner TOMORROW.

Now I know not to ask right when he walks in or anything like that - it doesnt matter when or how I ask him he gets annoyed that I am speaking and breathing in his space. Again, it is frustrating that he is taking out on ME and not on who he REALLY should be talking to about his issues.

Also, since I am typing. I asked him to get his grandmother a card for her 80th birthday. He gets her a card that says: 'you used to be a hot dog but now you are an old weenie'

WHO GETS THAT FOR AN 80 YEAR OLD WOMAN?!?!?!?!

ok thanks for listening.

First: the card, while of course innappropriate is freakin hysterical The fact that they even make cards like that.....I bet there are actually some old ladies out there that would get a kick out of it.

second, I feel your pain completely. DH has an extremely stressful job. One of those round the clock deals where even after he comes home his blackberry is ringing and vibrating all night and very early in the morning before he even gets in the shower. so annoying. Anyway, he needs serious downtime when he gets home. I know this, I understand this, but you know what, sometimes shiit needs to get done and that shiit doesn't care what kind of mood you're in. so of course I get the brunt of the anger for 'bothering' him with it, meanwhile it's usually some bullshiit having to do with his family and one of their gazillion obligations. When he's had his downtime I remind him (every time) how he's not to take his work frustration out on me, especially when he comes home to dinner on the table and baseball on TV. He always apologized sincerely and sometimes I can catch him before he starts with it and give him a look and he'll think twice before opening his mouth.....but yes, it's like the whole world has to stop because he's tired or had a bad day at work. I have bad days at work all the time, yet I manage to get all the other shiit done that needs to get done.

Tilde it's cause their men. They're big fat freakin babies and just can't deal. The world would be LOST without us women I swear.

AMEN!

It is funny that you say that because yesterday I walked in from work, kissed him and then started chatting with him WHILE doing all the dishes.

He just looks at me and says: 'How do you come home from work and come home and not need to chill out for a bit - OH it must be bc you dont work all day AT work'

um no - i dont freak out over every little thing and guess what? if i DONT come home and cook dinner, do laundry, do the dishes it WONT get done ((not bashing him - he has no time to do this stuff))

But like you said its frustrating, I follow the RULES ( give him time to wind down, dont interuppt sporting events ) and i still dont get a minute to talk about HIS FAMILY STUFF!

thanks for answering!

Re: DH vent!

sometimes we have to be each others' punching bags... I know I have taken it out on DH 34782738728372837 times when I had a bad day.

I'm actually waiting for him to return from home just so I can beat him up.

Sadly... he's a saint when it comes to me... He tries his HARDEST to leave his bad mood back in jersey...

I need anger management

btw- I love that card. It would have been appropriate for DH's relationship with his grandma... for sure.

mine, not so much.

I know - i am debating if i should let him give it to her OR risk his wrath and go out and get another card after asking him to go in the first place!

LOL Tilde its a clasic case of THEM and US.

I have to say if your grandmother has a sense of humour, give it to her OR give it to her and get a nice card as well and ive them both to her. I did that with my mom. I got one cute card and the other said something like 'I googled Sweet Mama's and you'd be AMAZED at what came up in my search engine!'

She didnt get it but everyone else did and when it was explained she swatted me but laughed.

Then again both DH and I can be inappropriate that way because our families are wackos and so are we.

Its just one of those times I'd day let it roll of your back. You can always do what I do when Pete goes and REALLY pisses me off; I made a duck sign LMAO. Odd I know,. The dock is smiling, wearing a rainhat and holding and umbrella pointing to his back.

I hold it up whenever DH starts trying to get my goat and he knows to huff and go bother someone else to avoid a fight. Sometimes humor as a coworker told me, is the best way to difuse bad situations.

I'll takle a pic for you!

LMAO. You know the saying 'let it roll off your back like a duck?'

Well I put my oh so artsistic skills to use and drew a duck dressed in rain gear and droplets are folling off his back. I keep it by the computer table lol so when DH starts hitting that nerve, rather than arguong over the small stuff I get the sign. When he sees it he knows to back off but its less abrasive than me saying 'You're being an OCD PITA!!!' He smiles and grumbles, I smile and the small fights arre averted.

A coworker told me to try humor instead of combativeness for little things so I am. so far it works. The first time lmao he thought Id lost my mind.
