DH Vent (long)
Okay I need to start this by saying I've only ever vented about my amazing husband once when he broke my headpiece before the wedding. I am SO happily married but this stuff just hurts and I need to know if I'm justified for feeling a little sensitive.
I've been looking for a new desk for my office, simply because I want a hutch. We've been looking and I found one online that I think might be nice so I went outside to talk to DH, who is currently working on siding the house which is an ongoing project.
Me: Hey, how's it going?
DH: Good.
Me: Almost done?
DH: No! Not even close.
Me: I just thought, since you said two hours...
DH: I did say two hours, didn't I?
Me: yea. Well how much did you do so far?
DH: 3 pieces
Me: Out of how many?
DH: 12, maybe
Me: Ok, well whenever you take a break or wrap it up and come in I think I finally found a desk that might be nice...(goes on to talk about specs and pricing)
DH: Can't you bring a laptop outside?
Me: I could but there's no rush, whenever you come inside just to get an opinion
DH: I really don't care. Get it if you want it.
Me: I just wanted an opinion cause I'm unsure. We can do it later. I kind of wish you cared about things like furniture, whatever I want is just 'that's nice', you never care about anything.
DH:That's not true
I just feel like he was being so short with me and like I WANT him to care. I was looking at comforter sets online and comparing some and anything I showed him, all he says is 'that's nice.
Last weekend he bought a 60' tv and I now have our old 46' one sitting in my office. I didn't want it and I didn't care about it but in general I feel that by all means he works hard so if he wants something I'm all for him having whatever it is. I spent hours helping him decide on a tv and he always wants company when going around to home depot, lowe's, restore, the siding place...whatever he's currently working on, I support him with and he always wants company because we never see each other. Is it that difficult to care about stuff that's for us or this house? I went shopping for couches the other night and took photos on my phone to show him ones I thought were nice and he still hasn't looked at them.
Am I overreacting and being too sensitive? Does anyone's DH lack caring about things that aren't male-centric?
