Did any of you...

Did any of you...

(also posted on BHB)

take all your pictures BEFORE the ceremony? If so, did it 'ruin' the 'moment' of you walking down the aisle and your SO seeing you (not for the first time)?

Since we're (as of now) marrying at the place, we'd have to miss our cocktail hour - as well as the people in our wedding party & our families - so that we can take pics...neither of us like the idea of this. So it was suggested we consider taking the pics b4 the ceremony...some have said it will make us more relaxed & we'll be able to enjoy (& remember) it all.

So I was just wondering what everyone else's opinions were...Thanks!

For us, it really worked out perfectly. Ours was a non-traditional ceremony (married at hall, non-denominational, no bridal party etc.). The time we had together before the ceremony while taking pics was so special. And, no matter what there is always a 'first time' that your FI will see you whether it's walking down the aisle, or seeing you before. Time-wise, it was a good choice for us. We attended our cocktail hour, except for the first 10-15 minutes when we took group shots. The photographers were not pulling us aside at all during the rest of the day and we got to enjoy our day!

We took pics before and never thought twice about 'losing that moment' because I don't care what you say, you are STILL walking down that aisle to your husband to be, whether you saw him only 5 minutes ago or the day before. Nothing can change that particular feeling. We only did it so we could enjoy our cocktail hour and the party and honestly, it made the day last much longer, I was able to talk to many of my friends and family, and I felt like I got to see and have actual conversations with everyone rather than just congratulations and thanks! We were glad we did it that way.

We took the pics before and it didnt ruin anything. In fact, it made it twice as good. Instead of having one really meaningful moment, we had two! I cried both times!

And having a few minutes to ourselves were we told each other we loved each other and how great we looked and blah, blah, blah was wonderful.

We took our pictures before the ceremony.
It did not take away from the moment at all. It actually gave us two moments! When we saw each other for the very first time we were alone except for the photographer and videographer. I asked all the family and BP to leave us to see each other 'alone'.
We were married at a church, and walking down the asile was the 'real thing' and amazing.
We wanted to go to our cocktail hour and spend as much time with our guests as possible. For us it was about sharing the day with them, and that's what we did.
Make your day your own, don't worry about what's traditional. I wouldn't change my day for anything. Your day will be great no matter how you arrange it. Make it yours.

We also took pics before the ceremony and I would do it that way again. We arranged for a special moment where it was just the two of us. Our photographers were there but stayed in the background, so that it really did feel like we were alone. DH cried when he saw me which I know he never would have done in front of everyone. We were able to enjoy our cocktail hour with our friends and family which we both really wanted.

Same here ... we arranged a special moment and captured it all on tape!!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat - it provided for more pictures and more time at the 'party'!!!

I would never do it any other way....

I am not a really mushy person...and I didn't want people to be seeing our first time together dressed...it was personal...

don't anyone ever tell you what you should or should not do

Re: Did any of you...

Thanks everyone - your responses have given us a lot to think about...I'm liking this idea more and more!

We have been having a tough time lately - with a couple of family members pushing their opinions on us through guilt. It has gotten to the point where neither of us want to go to Easter (even though we're not religious we go to spend time with his family). Ugh.
