Seriously consider getting married secretly before the wedding (or actually get married before the wedding), but still having a big day to share with your family and friends? I read an article not so long ago about the growing number of brides who get married in a small ceremony with witnesses for one reason or another and then still have a ceremony and reception at another time.
I mentioned to DH a few times while planning the wedding that we should just go to Town Hall and get married and then still have our ceremony to renew our vows and then the reception, but DH didn't like the idea.

No, it never crossed my mind, but I guess that could be largely due to the fact that he was in Binghamton finishing his Masters and I was here.

Re: Did any of you brides...
we had considered it when we found out DH's sister couldn't legally marry us like we wanted...but i was upset at the idea of not doing it infront of everyone & the day we had picked, which has meaning besides being our wedding date...but we were able to find a solution & go back to our original plan & had an amazing day.
