No...I even brought down my luggage to a cheaper set because I thought no one would buy it at that price and I wanted it....

nope - not even close to anything that high. Anything that expensive we just knew we'd buy ourselves. I had a $500 cookware set that is still on my registry - almost 6 months after the wedding

We didn't really register for big ticket items. But I was surprised that some people bought multiple sets of our China and silverware and that added up to big $$

Put it on your registry, and then use the discounts that you get to complete the registry if nobody buys it for you. Your bridal party might go in on something big, or your parents.

Re: Did any of you girls register for...
The reason why I asked is because I told my FH to register for a Viking grill from Fortunoff. His parents each have 6 siblings, so there's a chance some of them might go in on it.

I agree ... put it on your registry anyway. You never know! Then if you don't get it, you can always use your discount plus any GC's and/or any credits you get from returns to buy it!

Re: Did any of you girls register for...
I didn't put any big ticket items on our registry, because I knew that we'd have to get those items ourseleves. My girls, however, told Rob to have me register for luggage (since I thought it was to expensive to put on) and bought our luggage set for us. But you never know, your bridal party or in-laws may surprise you OR you may get a bunch of gift certificates (if people know you want that something) that will help you pay for it.

I think you should put them on. You never know what people will want to do for you.

Re: Did any of you girls register for...
I didn't register for anythign that expensive but my pots and pans about $700 and my bedding was very pricey. I had gotten my luggage as a Christmas gift from DH's family the year before.
I say register for it - if it is something you really really want and see what happens. Like you said, you may have 6 generous family members that may get it for your (maybe FI can throw some hints their way!). My only concern would be - will you be disappointed if you got that and not $2,000 worth of other merchandise on your list?

Re: Did any of you girls register for...
I only thing big and most expensive item(s) we'd registered for on either our Macy's or Crate & Barrel's registries was a 12 set pots and pans by Calphon. It was (I believe) $399.00 but was rated as the best one by Consumer Reports. We'd never did got them but we do need them as we're using cheap no name pots, pans, skillets, etc. and now they're starting to fall apart. We didn't registry for any kind of furniture as we'd got them on our own.
I say if you do register for big and expensive items that are over $200.00+ chances are you probably won't get them, bare in mind your guests' budget restraints. I suggest to register for a variety of price ranges from $30.00 to $200.00. Just IMHO.

Re: Did any of you girls register for...
We registered for a couple of things in the $300-$400 range that were purchased. a chandelier, queen comforter...
Then we registered for a few big ticket items like furniture, but that's because we wanted to use the discount after the wedding.

Re: Did any of you girls register for...
My briadl party got us our video camera, about $800. I didn't register for it, but they asked what we wanted and my sister told them that, my pots were $250, 3 of my friends got those and other small things, ironing board, towels. My bedding was $400, my MIL got us that. I have friends who got major appliances....washing machines, dish washers....it doesn't hurt to put it on there!

Re: Did any of you girls register for...
I think the most expensive thing on our registry is something 500-600 dollars. Most things are between 25 and 100. If you want it, put it on the registry. You never know! Someone may be feeling generous!

I didn't. If your family and friends may come together and get that for you go ahead. You might be pleasantly surprised.
