did anybody had to go through the process of applying for a change of status/ green card?

did you do it in New York? I just wonder how it was the day that you went to file the papers. I was told by INS that I have to do it in person in the New York office ... how many hours were you waiting in line?

I would suggest that you go as soon as they are opened.
