Did anyone else postpone their wedding post 9/11?

September 11th really hit us hard. Working in NYC, we experienced a lot of grief and didn't feel much like celebrating on our scheduled September 15th wedding. We decided to have our ceremony and a very intimate dinner with those who could make it--many family members were absent due to cancelled flights and bridge closures.

Our minister was great and without us even asking gave a moment of silent prayer for those who were lost in the tragedy. So many guests thanked us for having the ceremony, and even those guest who had lost friends or loved ones were glad for the break in the sadness.

We now are planning our postponed reception and hoping that most people are ready to celebrate with us and won't be so afraid to come to NY. We've already gotten some no's that were yes's before. Has anyone else had any anthrax or terrorist scared guests?

We went ahead with our Sept. 15th wedding.

My husband and I decided to go ahead with our Sept. 15th wedding. It was a wonderful day despite all the replanning we had to do and the guests who decided not to come for whatever reason.

My advice to you and your husband are to make the day what you want it to be and as long as the people your close family and friends are there that is all that matters.

good luck

We went ahead with our Sept. 14th wedding.

And we are very happy that we did. Many of our guests commented that they were glad to be with people that they loved and celebrate a happy occasion.

And just as the others said it was a wonderful time to be surrounded by family and friends. Everyone needed a day to celebrate and be happy and hug and kiss all those that we love so dear.

9/22, we went ahead

I work right near there. I have 4 cousins and a father-in-law who work in the area as professionals or police/fire. One of my best friends/bridesmaids is an AA flight attendant who was on the Boston/LA route all of September.

The experience was devastating to me and it took 3 dyas to find out everyone as alright...luckily no one I know was hurt.

I had 2 couples cancel. Alot of people who were vacationing cancelled their plans and were able to make the wedding. 4 of my bridesmaids and numerous friends/family go on a plane and made my wedding. They did it for me, and for themselves. It was a well deserved break for all concerned and everyone had a great time.

God bless us all.
