Did anyone have...

a Calypso/Steeldrum duo or trio at their cocktail hour? If so, who did you go with? Was it worth it? Pricing? You could FM me if you're more comfortable answering that way...Thank you so much!

I looked into it but decided against it. As my sister pointed out to me, the drums would be loud and distracting, which would take away from the more low-key, chatty atmosphere I was trying to create!

I still think it's a unique idea though - it all depends on the mood you're trying to set.

Re: Did anyone have...

Our wedding is Labor Day weekend, next year...we thought it would be summery & fun - unique. Our cocktail hr will flow from indoor to outdoor and the Hamlet would set the duo/trio up outdoors...so if it's nice weather, the noise shouldn't be too bad. But you're right, I didn't think of the noise factor if it were indoors. We just liked the idea of it - something different, lively...

We had steelpan players at our cocktail hour and they were awesome. They were smooth and the atmosphere was right, they set the mood for our Caribbean themed wedding.

We used CM Production

actually, that setting is more appropriate for a drum band I would think, being Labor day weekend and all. Our cocktail was outdoors too on the water, so I thought that would fit the 'mood' but since we also splurged for a string quartet at the church, I figured that was enough $$$!

We used a steel drum band .... they were TERRIFIC and everybody loved them. We had an outdoor cocktail hour with a BBQ and Tropical drink bar set up as well, so the steel drums were a hit! We used Franklin Wayne for our band and the steel drums!!! I totally recommend them!!!!!
