Did anyone have a problem changing maiden name to middle name a t DMV?

Did anyone have a problem changing it at DMV? They wont let me change it until I have 6 points of doucuments. which means I need like 3 doucuments with my last name as my middle name?

That's rediculous! I havent changed my lisence yet but I dont see why your SS card is not enough!

i've been holding off on this for that exact reason. all i have is my s.s. card with my first, maiden, and last name. i heard it may be easier to get my passport done so i'm going to attempt that first and hopefully i'll get it and them go to the dmv.

do you know how many things or what id's make 6 points?

I had no problem except that they put the wrong address and I had to go back, all I had to bring was my old id , our marriage certificate and social security card.

They gave me a list of items and many points they are worth... I feel like I am on a scavenger hunt! lol
Here are some of the items on the list........
US Passport 4 pts
US Military ID 3pts
Certificate of Citizenship 3pts
Employment Authorization Card with photo issued by INS for 1 year or more 3pts
NYS or NYC pistol permit 2pts
NYS Professional Licence 2pts
NYS Registration Document ( vehicle or boat only) 2pts
NYS certificate of title 2pts
US college ID card with photo and transcript 2pts
US Social security card 2 pts
US computer printed Pay stub 1pt
US Health insurance card/ percription card 1pt
US supermarket check cashing card 1pt
Us life insurance policy( in effect for 2yrs) 1pt
Only one of the following items, if issued by the SAME financial institution, can be submitted
US Bank Statement
US Cancelled Check (with preprinted name on it)
US Cash Card (ATM)(must have your signature & preprinted name on it
Valid Major US Credit Card

The problem with some of these is that you need to change your licence before you change some of these documents.

They wouldn't let me change it either - or even put my middle initial in - because it was too long. So I just have my married name on there.

That makes NO sense.

They gave me a hard time about having two middle names, but no problem with changing my name! I brought in the SS card and that was it!

WHich DMV did you go to?

The one in Garden City near Roosevelt Field, I think.

Either that or the one by the intersection of 135 and Hempstead Turnpike. I'm really sorry, but I've been gone so long (???) that I can't remember the name of the town. It's the one between Levittown and Farmingdale.
