I have been to greece over a dozen times (my parents were born and raised there so we go visit family a lot)...and i would have gone again on my honeymoon if i had gotten married in the spring or summer....i may be biased, but summer in greece is a truly perfect vacation....the beaches are fabulous, there is plenty of culture and activities, the food is great and the nightlife is excellent...last time i went with DH we went to santorini (stayed at the oia mare), myconos (stayed at the belvedere) and we also went to our parents' islands which are not as touristy....it was very cost effective compared to hotel and food prices here, but i'm not sure if this has changed since the conversion to the euro....santorini is very quaint and scenic although its beaches are not among the best in greece....myconos has some beautiful beaches and the nightlife (and daylife) are great - there are non-stop parties on the beach that continue into the clubs at night....there are also quieter, more romantic spots for couples...you can FM me with your plans (how long you'll stay, what type of vacation you are looking for) and i can give you much more info on where to go, where to stay, etc....as for security, i'm not sure what it's like now, but it has never been a problem before in times of war/unrest...i know plenty of people who are planning trips there this summer...let me know if you need more help!
