Did Anyone Make their Maiden Name their Middle Name?

I'm beginning the process of changing my name and my Aunt suggested adding my maiden name to my middle name so I don't completely lose it and then changing my last name to my new married name.

So for example, if my maiden name was:
Jane Rose Doe

And my husbands name was:
John Smith

My new name would be:
Jane Rose-Doe Smith

Part of me says its not worth it, but part of me sees that it would be an easy way of keeping my last name without the nightmare of always hyphenating etc.

What do you guys think?

personally i wouldnt do it because it doesnt quite sound right to me

i never looked at it as loosing my last name just gaining a new one

I took my maiden name as my middle name and am VERY happy I did. I'm still Heather M... now just Heather M.... P.....

I did this and I am very happy that I did. I didn't want to give up my maiden name completely but I didn't want to hyphenate it because my name is long enough as it. I changed it to
First Middle Maiden DHLast

With my maiden name as another middle name, I can use it if I want but don't have to if I don't want to.

I can sooooo easily make my maiden name my middle name, because I don't have a middle name to begin with..

lol definatly not for me! i dont want to be:
'Jessica Olivia Marie Irwin-Fridell Dwyer'

... not happening!
i already had a hyphenated last name
me and DH have the longest names!
('Kevin Barry Patrick Edward Dwyer')
[yes these include comirmation names, dont worry our parents werent THAT cruel!]

I feel the same way, plus my maiden name would've sounded absolutely RIDICULOUS as my middle name and then I still would've lost my original middle name.

This is me too. I never had a middle name so it was very easy for me to make my maiden name my middle name. I'm so glad I did it this way too.

Why don't you just become

Jane Rose Doe Smith

Without the hypen - have 2 middle names instead of one hypenated name?
